Hi everyone. Well I got approval for my interstim revision surgery. My doctor has done many of this and is very experienced in the interstim, but b/c of medicare that I have and no other insurance I am having to have it done at the teaching hospital here in Louisiana. Believe it or not this hospital has never done one of these surgeries there. My dr had to go in front of the operating room board of directors to get approval on this. I will be having it either April 27th or May 5. Please pray that everything goes well. I am going to have to have the lead wires fixed, they became messed up do to a car wreck in 2003. I am also going to try and have the unit itself replanted in my back. I have lost over 40 pounds since have the interstim put in and it sticks out of my waist really far and it really annoying. Hopefully he can get it in deeper, he says I dont have alot of fat to put it in now. But any how if this does not work I want the stupid thing out. I am not 100% with the surgery, but I am hoping this will be the less drastic thing to do at this time. I am wondering if anyone has had this done how long is the recovery time. Is it about the same as having the first one done or not. Anyway please send prayers my way. Thanks guys :)

Thanks Dusty...Still not to happy about the revision, I guess I am trying to do the less invasive thing first. At LEAST the first uro who did mine is not doing it again. I cant believe how I was treated and when things were going bad he refused to help me. But it goes to show that they care more about the $$$ than they do their patients. He went so far to say that toe curling and the shocking I was getting was normal and no big deal. Bunch of bull c***. The funny thing is the nurse that was as the first uro's office and was with me when I had my surgery and did all of my reprogramming is now at my new uro's office. How ironic. She was also in the operating room when I had it done the first time. Its also werid that LSU Hospital has not done an Interstim surgery until now. But like I told the dr that not unscommon, I had to end up with a disease no one knew of, a device even less no of but oh well that is how it goes for us. I know one thing for sure, this time around if it screws up again I want it out. I am not fooling around anymore with the stupid thing. Thanks again for the advise. I was worried about scar tissue and stuff around the wires and the unit.
