Has anyone else used pyridium long term? I have been having a hard time getting off oxygen and my bottle of pyridium says "may cause breathing problems". I looked up long term use of pyridium on the internet and long term use can cause a problem with oxygen combing with hemoglobin and this could be causing my low oxygen levels. The problem is I don't think I can live without pyridium. Is there anything else that can help with the burning? I am terrified if I have to give up my pyridium. I am waiting for my pulomonary dr. to call me back. HELP!!!!! By the way, I have been taking pyridium 3-4 times a day for SEVEN YEARS.

hi Carly:
I was taking Pyridium on and off for the last few years, I read about the side effects and only took them when I was really suffering, I find they work the best for my burning sensation, unfortuneatly they have taken it off the market in Nova Scotia Canada so I am unable to get it. I now have to take an inhaler occasionally for tightness in my chest, I'm not sure if this was caused from the Pyridium or not. I hope you can get your oxygen leveled out, you don't need that on top of everything else. Thinking of you. TAG

Oh dear. I am asthmatic and recently have been taking Pyridium occasionally for pain while I am trying to find out what is wrong with my urinary tract... and I noticed that when I take them I get wheezy and have some chest tightness. I thought it was just because I'm stressed out over other symptoms... I had no idea that Pyridium could cause breathing problems. Hmmm...perhaps I should save it only for emergencies now because I do not need a major asthma attack right now...
