I got this question today by email and realized that we really should have a list of clothing lines/pants that are comfortable for patients struggling with IC, vulvodynia, etc.
Because I'm an exercise nut, I spend a lot of time in my nike yoga pants.. which I happen to be wearing right now as a matter of fact.
But... for jeans, I found that the J.Jill stretch denim jeans were very stretchy, comfortable and had an unusually roomy crotch. Not big... but just a little extra room down there.
My favorite pants are those made from INC. Love their stretch jeans and ress pants as well!
Do you have a favorite line of pants that are comfy during IC flares... aside, of course, from sweatpants which we all wear frequently!
Jill :)

Totally agree with the Nike yoga pants -- I am wearing mine today too!!
Also, Victoria's Secret, for those that like to shop from home, now has a whole line of althetic inspired pants and shorts that are stretchy, cotton, and elastic-waisted. And, their "Easy Jean" is trendy and also fits very loosely with a wide leg, and ample waist with lower rise & wide waistband that doesn't cut sharply across the belly -- the only drawback is the crotch is a bit short, but they are okay for days when crotch pain is not my main issue. I do however suggest ordering a size up from your normal sizes with VS, because their stuff runs a little small.
I also got a pair of Z. Cavaricchi jeans (on sale for $9 believe it or not) at a JC Penney's a few weeks ago when shopping with my mother-in-law -- they fit perfectly, nice and stretchy, long crotch (but not too long), and they have a trendy silky, beaded scarf belt that you can remove if you don't want to wear it (but if you do you can tie it loose and low on your hips). They're my new fave pair of jeans :)
Also, for the working girls, the Chadwick's catalog (http://www.chadwicks.com) has some nice business wear that I recently got for interviews -- many of the suits have elastic waists on the pants/skirts and they ALL have roomy crotches and a relaxed fit. Very comfy and also inexpensive.

I wear flannel pj pants in the colder weather and when it's warmer I wear cotton pj pants. If I have to go out in public, then I find that Northern reflections makes a cotton pant with a drawstring that is very comfortable and I also like the LL Bean Bayside twills and cords.
Jean
Elisabeth (branch of Liz Claiborn for plus sizes) makes a very soft jean with no waistband (the fabric kind of folds over on the top) - these are very comfortable for me. They come in sizes 14 and up.

I have several brands I like. I wear lots of Lee jeans with the elastic in the sides; Bill Blass also makes some with elastic sides. In summer I live in Erika elastic waist cotton pants. Carribean Joe also makes some drawstring pants that are wonderfully soft to wear. For me, elastic is the key --- if I get pants without elastic, I have to buy them at least two sizes too big everywhere else to get them to go over my IC belly.
Donna
I like pants with drawsting waist with very little elastic. I have found some Danskin capri pants I just love. I also have found some Marsh Landing fleece that were good. It all depends on the elastic at the waist. I can't have anything that is real tight.

I am very long waisted (a very good thing when packing on weight) and tall and long legged....since pain (pelvic) is my symptom, my pants procedure is annoyingly full of criteria! :biglaugh:
Unlike every other woman in the world, I find anything low waisted extremely uncomfortable....the only reason I can figure is that the rise is too short and it is very uncofortable for me to be in such a short rise in the crotch area. :loco:
I will only wear jeans with a higher waist and stretch-my favorites are Christopher Blue and Jag-but both are very expensive, but trendy. My next favorite and standard issue are Ralph Lauren "stretch denim" 5 pocket jeans. They are like a second skin and while still a bit pricy at 68.00, they last forever. Not quite as tendy, but very flattering. I have just gone back up to a size 10 and even a 12 in some brands, so we all know that translates into total discomfort and constant complaining to anyone who is dumb enough to listen. :ignore:
As far as really comfy pants-I love to kick around in Nike Dri-fit pants. Normal length, boot cut...seemingly lower waisted, but they have a very thick waistband that doesn't curl....I am my most comfortable in shorts...so I definitely live in the wrong climate.
I am a real creature of habit and find I am happiest in tailored and constructed styles. I am not happy in loose fitting clothing, as I seem to fiddle with it all day and my biggest pet peeve would have to be anything drawstring.
I do like J Jill and Chico jeans ( I wear many Chicos' in general...very comfy clothing line)...both stores have varying styles each season....now that I have discussed clothing, I am off to put away all my clothes I have outgrown-so not a happy camper right now. :ignore:
Out for dinner last night I wore my "bigger" pants and I am pretty sure that my underwear line was the only thing being discussed in the city of Providence last night...........grrrrr, nothing like a bad body day to make you fantasize that everyone is paying attention to you. LOL!!!! :help:
So that is my pants story...any clues here that I am not happy in my skin right now? :headbang: :headbang:

I like anything that is not snug on my belly, and ones that have some stretch to them. I tried on a pair of levi jeans last week, thinking that I wanted to try a pair of fitted jeans, but I cannot stand the tight fitting, none giving around my tummy, ones anymore. Must be that 'IC belly' as Donna said.
Good question Jill. As I see, I'm not the only one in this category either.

Betsie! Me too I LOVE the Ralph Lauren line. He made them for REAL women. I have bought several at Ross and tj maxx stores from 9-15 $ on sale in the clearance racks and they are all soo comfy.Right now at Ross they have a pair of super soft almost a light flannel Ralph Lauren stretch jean...Ibought for 9.99.
The other pair of jeans that is made for a real woman andhave a longer crotch and a wide no roll waistband, that make ANYwoman thinner are Suzanne Somers jeans sold at hsn tv or at www.hsn.com they never wear out either.
Great question Jill!!!!!

OMG-I keep meaning to spend some time in TJMaxx, but too think of the price you paid for the jeans makes me ill....especially right now...I am not happy about spending money to outfit an expanded mid section...so thanks for the reminder. I often ordered them right from polo.com as I would get dersperate for a pair and fast. However, like I said they last forever, so are worth the money.
I think the other think I like about the new generation jeans, aside from the fact that even the trendier lines use stretch and the comfort...is they are easily "revived" with a quick tumble in the dryer...unlike the older denims that just stretched out almost immediately.
Well, I must love this thread...it is almost 10:30 AM and I am stillm hanging out in my comfy pajama pants...time to roll! :)

I have to say my favorite pants are my scrub pants that I used to wear to work. I sleep in them and wear them all day long. I do wear ones that are a size larger than I need to give me extra room. The only bad thing is you look very funny if you wear them out in public. I usually wear a pair of windsuit pants then.

I normally wear a size larger sweat pants during the day, of course oversized cotton PJ pants for those "bad days" and recently found very comfy cotton stretchy capris at Walmart at a very reasonable price and again I recommend like everyone else buy a size larger for belly and crotch comfort. That's what I wear and recommend.

I find that my cotton pajama pants are the most comfortable, too bad I can't wear them to work. I have just bought a few new pair of capri's in a size larger than I normally wear and they are real comfortable, do have a little trouble with them falling down alot though. :hmm:

I don't wear jeans much because the fabric is usually too thick and uncomfortable for me but I love the drawstring pants! I've got them in every color for work.
