Today, I finally got my "official" dx of IC. I had the potassium sensitivity test, and I still feel like my bladder is on fire!! The great doctor who I finally found to help me (he is actually a gyn,) wanted to do the test before he started my instillations.

With the horrible reaction to the potass., and PUF questionaire answers, he gave me the positive dx of IC. He then gave me my first instill of heparin, steroids and analagesics. I now have to get the instills twice a week for a month. He also told me to start taking the Elmiron.

I am just so happy to finally have a definitive answer!! He told me that his job was easy because I had already had all of the other testing done, and all of the info...I just needed the right doctor, and now I have him!

I am also going to pain management on Friday. So, I now have a "treatment plan" so to speak. I am also starting the diet today. I am not looking forward to that, but I am looking forward to feeling better!!! I just wanted to share the good news!

I'm glad you got a diagnosis and are started on some treatments that I hope will soon have you much more comfortable. I'm sorry the instills didn't take away all the burning right away. :( I think the doc should have given you some pain pills if the instill didn't make it go away entirely.

I hope you feel better soon,

Blessings, Lori

congratulations on the diagnosis. it sounds so bad to say "congratulations on having IC" but boy do i understand the need and the relief of having a name to what has been going on. *smiles* but i really am happy for you to have gotten a diagnosis and a treatment plan started. i am sure you are well on your way to helping yourself feel better, if nothing else, just that positive attitude you have!! keep it up!

*smiles* and the diet really isn't all that bad... it takes some getting used to, but i really feel better knowing i am eating more healthy!
