St. John's Wort

I would like to try St. John's Wort for my depression associated with my IC diagnosis - has anyone of you ever taken it, do you think it's 'safe' for us to take (you know its genetic makeup, acid, etc.)?

I have never used it but wanted to tell you to discuss this with your Dr. He needs to know whatever supplements you use because they can interact with your prescribed medications. He can maybe give you something that he can monitor better also.

I agree with Jolene. You may be much safer taking a low dose of a prescription antidepressant --- and your physician can more closely monitor your progress.

It threw me into a flare. I had to stop taking it after 1 day.
