I stared smoking again last year. Yes I know the dangers of this killer, but I have such severe episodes that I reach for a cig at light, lots of cigs. My husband and I are fighting betime over this. For me it relaxes me. He says it make my IC worse. What's the truth? Also I have been having recurrent episodes of herpes outbreaks. Constantly in the rear. My familiy phy says it's because my immune system down. Does anyone know if Valtrex effects the bladder. Please help me. The 4 10mg of percocets is not helping.
Trouble in Georgia and home.

For mwenke:
When I quit smoking twenty years ago, it definitely improved my IC pain.
On another note, I have lost too many good friends with lung cancer --- all of them smokers --- all very dear to me --- and another good friend will probably be gone within the next few weeks --- his doctor says "any time now." It just breaks my heart to see him go outside and smoke; he lives with his daughter and her husband now because he is not able to care for himself.
Please, please, please --- don't smoke.

Quitting smoking really helped my bladder & as much as I want to lose weight I won't go back to smoking. If this is a new habit for you, please quit now before you really get hooked. Kathi

Thank you all for the replies. No this is not a new habit. I smoked years ago and then quit for 7 years. Last year I started again. I know I'm crazy to go there again. I suffer so badly from IC and because my resistance is so low I keep having herpes outbreaks. But yesterday I had only one cigarette and today none so I'm trying to quit this nasty habit.
Thanks for answering my question.

I am truly trying to quit smoking. And I know this a cop-out but I am so much pain tonight. I truly don't know what to do anymore about it. I took a 10mg percocet and that didn't help so I took then took 15mg of zanax. Still no success. Here I am smoking a cigarette. My husband would be screaming his head off, but he went in the other bedroom to get some sleep, while I came downstairs to write this and here I am grabbing a smoke. It's not the cigarette I want I just want one day of pain relief. Can anyone please tell me else my pain specialist can perscribe for me. I have no coverge anymore for IC, therefore, I can no longer go the ER for demerol. For the past week I have been having severe bladder pain. I'm at my witts end. Does anyone out there no of any stronger pain meds he might write. I've been on 50mc of derogicis patches, for six months, with no relief. Would oral demerol help. My pschiatist told me today at my visit that it's not as strong as the IV. Lately I think my food tolerance has gotten worse. I don't want to come across as a narco but I need some help to get thru this tough time. I've had this disese for so many years and lately it's getting the best of me.
