View Full Version : Color & Saying For Livestrong Bracelets??

icnmgrjill

Hey folks... well it looks like the pricing has come down a bit so we can consider doing those silicone bracelets that are becoming so popular.

I have two questions

(1) What color should we use??? I was thinking of maybe a soft green??? but am totally open to any ideas or concepts.

(2) What would you like them to say??

I like "Got IC? Ask me!"

Maybe... IC Strength & Hope
or... IC Awareness
IC Heroes
or IC Angels
orrrr.... your ideas??

Jill :)

What color isn't currently being used by another organization? I'd like something different colorwise, to stand out. I like your first 2 suggestions. Let's make a difference! Smiles, Kathi

The only colors that I'm aware of that are already being used is yellow for the Livestrong cancer braclets, and pink for Breast Ca. A nice soft color would be good, to resemble the soft hearts of all you. As for the saying...hem...that's a tough one. All that you have suggested Jill are good. I can't wait til they are available!!!!!

P.S. Forgot to say I like the soft green idea.

I like the soft green too and the "Got IC, ask me?"

I wonder if people would think the other "IC" ones are shorthand for "I see"="I see hope" "I see angels" etc.

I've had so many relatives crack themselves up, when they say "I see" to something I've said about IC. Hehheh. (Not very funny to me, but what can you do?)

Anyhow I really like the bracelet idea..

The ICA is supposedly in the process of doing this also. You might want to ask Fish, as she was working on it awhile back. There was alot of interest in them. The posts were in the fundraising section. I'm not sure what color they were thinking of; it would be nice if we could find out. Good luck.

I like the soft green idea as the logo on the back of the restroom access cards is that color :) I also like "Got IC? Ask Me." I would definitely buy one of these bracelets.

Also, if the ICA is doing it as well, I think that's okay. I would wear both bracelets WITH PRIDE (the one from the ICA and the ICN will probably be different colors and have different sayings).

I like the IC Strength & Hope and I love the green idea. I don't wear any bracelets, because I always thought they were strange. That, and my daughter has an armfull of them! grrr. Anyway, there's all colors and even some for their school spirit. She wears a Bombers blue one, a yellow support our soldiers, a blue one that says GRACE, a pink breast cancer awareness one and a blue one that is bone marrow donor awareness.

So, we need to get an "off" color, like maroon or green. I'd even like to see a white one with the writing on it. YES ~~ That's it. WHITE. Noone wears one that color. (Or we could use a light pee colored yellow) hehehehehehehehe LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

I would buy any color or saying to help support. The only thing I'd like to suggest is maybe sizes like the Livestrong bracelet. I find the adult sizes on many to be too big.

I also found this site on awareness colors:

Color theory,...I love it! A necessary part of art as well as advertising. You're all probably aware that colors are often chosen by how the color relates on an emotional level.

With that in mind, for IC awareness I'd pick light blue. Light blue is associated with health, healing, tranquility, understanding & softness.

If anyone has an interest in colors and their meanings there's a list here:
http://color-wheel-pro.com/color-meaning.html

I'd also like to add another vote for IC Strength & Hope.

love the soft green too...rightnow other than the yellow liveston and the pink breast cancer....there are 2 other blue ones similar in color....1 for the tsunami victims and 1 for Hendricks racing for lukemia/bone marrow. So maybe blu would not be agood choice unless it was a baby blue or something...not a royal blue.

I know not only I would wear them but I would buy lots of them and all my family memebers and friends would wear them too for me :)

Great idea Jill! Keep up the great work!

I like the idea and would gladly buy one to wear proudly. Any color would be fine with me but I do like the soft green suggestion. Why not do an IC in green or lilac for girls and white for the men? Maybe more cost effective to just go with one color. IC Strength and Awarness has my vote too:D

I don't see why a man wouldn't like soft green. My oldest son wares a bracelet that is soft green my daugther wares one and so does my six year old soft green. my boys also ware blue white yellow etc. no pink purple or anything like that lol.
green seems to be in sytle with the kids right now includeing the boys/men.

Well lets see
blue = Cancer
pink = Breast Cancer
lt. green = Muscular Dystrophy
red = Aids
orange = Multiple Sclerosis
purple = lupus

and of course yellow for the lance armstong cancer.
So in knowing that maybe we should go with a lighter purple lilac color Lupus is a darker purple.

Just my opinion

I like "IC Strength and Hope". That's what it means to have IC to me. It take strength and hope to deal with this disease.

I would not like a feminine color like lilac. I like red because it is bold, it jumps out at you, and it is a passionate color, just like us, we are all passionate about IC and getting the word out about it.

I think that these braclets are out for nearly anything now days. I saw one person wearing a red one that was for heart disease (someone said it's for Aids too), I saw a dark blue for prostate cancer. I saw another medium blue one with Support our Troops. A light purple or lilac color for a local support team for a young person's with some (?) kind of cancer. At work they were saying that you can buy them in any color with any saying on them at a local department store.
I think it's a matter of what color/saying we all with IC agree on. I did think of a light blue. With the meaning of...."blue skies after the storm"...and we all have the storms, and a hope of blue skies soon. With the saying IC Strength and Hope. Maybe rainbow colored (the colors in the group hug icon?) :grouphug: ..we all want a nice ending to the storms.....Just some ideas and my thought. I'm for any color and will buy several of them.

windwalker
03-28-2005, 10:17 AM
I did see someone wearing one that was two colors, like tiedye or swirly, whichever way ya wanna think of it, wonder if its possible to get one dark blue w/white that way? I know dark blue is the color for IC (and upteen other diseases) The colors would go with everything ;) I do like the solid white idea, but I just think of how white gets so dirty looking, and I am guessing that the bracelets are a rubber which would sort of absorb dirt. Light blue is cool too.

"Hey, Jill!
Believe it or not, I actually didn't notice your post until you pointed it out to me just now :bonk:
I'm so glad the idea's gonna happen :woohoo:
As for the color, Jamie (jamie15) told me that the color had already been selected as blue. That's my only source, so I guess you'd have to ask her.
I do like the idea of a light green, though. Well, I would, I'm GREEN the Fish :lmao:
Now you've got me thinking... while you're at it, I think this is a great opportunity to raise awareness on other related issues as well.
How about a bracelet for chronic pain? I don't have a diagnosis of IC, but I've been diagnosed as a chronic pain patient, so I'd really be interested in this one. I'm thinking dark red here.
There could also be one for Eosinophilic Cystitis. Since the ICN is pretty much the only place on the net with EC info, it's us or nobody for this idea. Maybe you could use the white with green color scheme here.
Wow, I'm still kind of in shock that the CEO of a buisness is actually going to use one of my ideas :)
I feel so important :lmao:

Heyyyy green!

You probably saw my post about the Livestrong bracelets. I wasn't aware that a color had been picked for IC? Do you have a source for that??? What color??? I've found some even more affordable manufacturers now and am more willing to go for this GREAT idea of yours!

I'm thinking... white with green printing??? Or a soft green. What are your thoughts??

The white with colored writing is great! I really like that a lot.

Janie Miranda
03-29-2005, 04:19 AM
I like the IC Strength and Hope saying. To me it would be a symbol of the strength we must have to go through the difficult process of getting a diagnosis and the strength of dealing with chronic pain, illness, trying multiple medications and sometimes dealing with unsympathetic doctors. To me the "hope" speaks to all the new reasearch that is being done, the possible new treatments and then the hope of a cure.

White with green print sounds nice to me. I think it would go with most anything to wear.

This is a great idea. The white seems like it would be so bad to gather dirt and all. I think the green is OK, but also thought about Pyridium orange (you know what I mean)! :) I like lilac a lot as well, but that would be more on the girly side. I think it's OK if we have the same color as someone else. The only one we should probably avoid is the Lance Armstrong yellow. That's the only one that everyone seems to know. FOr example, I wear a red AMerican Heart Association one, but not many people know that's what it's for without asking.

I like hope and strength as well. Really, whatever is decided, it's something I will support. I'm all about IC education!! :)

I thought I had heard IC has a color already. Dark Blue or Royal Blue for pins anyways I don't know if the bracelets have to be the same color. I may be wrong but I thought green the fish had told me of a website for this? Maybe not I thought I seen it on the National Rare Disease Website or there was a site for supportive pins that have the colors for each disease. I understand ICA has their own pins and bracelets ICN should have their own. With ICN somewhere on it. Just my input

I also like the black with colored writing idea. One I haven't seen yet is turquoise...that is a unisex color too. Now that someone has mentioned it, I remember seeing one of the nurses at my Uro's office wearing a blue bracelet and when I asked about it she said it was for bladder cancer (I think)....I was in a lot of pain that day.

Hi All,

My step sons had on a green bracelet yesterday and I asked them what it was for... They said there mom's friend had a kidney transplant and she gave them each one. Sooo green is taken for organ donations...

What about a bold color like read or magenta??? IC is quite painful... those colors might represent it well :) Just a thought

black's taken, hot topic uses it for a music on schools program

i like red, but true red is very much the aids color, so most people would assume that's what it was for.

how about neon colors? like neon green or a really bright blue? because IC takes over and i really would like it to get noticed.

i like orange, and green. why not bold green?

i think the point of these bracelets is to have a bright color that gets noticed and associated with the illness.

Hello again everyone, I don't know if we have gotten anywhere with this bracelet Idea, or any good websites to get them from. But I found a few good websites where the bracelets don't cost much and you can have whatever put on them in any color of course. Here are a few websites I seen www.lapelpinandbutton.com and another is www.pinmart.com. I know there are pins out there that are Blue or Dark blue picked for IC. I looked up Awareness Pins and on one of the websites IC is blue and in the catogory for blue is "child abuse, water quility, crime victims rights, arthritis and Interstitial Cystitis. I'm not sure but I might have found that on www.imprintitems.com. Also another beutiful website to checkout everyone is personalizedcause.com Love how it was made. Very Neat! I saw an awareness ribbon pin for IC on a site that was navy blue.
I have a light pink breast cancer bracelet that looks awful from picking up the dye from my black or navy clothing. I like the idea of a darker color.
I also have very tiny wrists and the adult bracelets fall off. I almost lost my light blue one for Autism Awareness for this reason.
I would buy them for my whole family!
I like IC Awareness "hope and strenth" or "you are not alone" would be a good one to remind the wearer and give hope to them. Remember, we are the ones that need reassurance, not the others reading the bracelet on our wrist.

Hopefully we can get them before summer.

KK-
Don't quote me here, but my daughters and their friends (with annoyingly tiny wrists) swear you can shrink the bracelots using a hairdryer....I would write down the technique, but that's all I've got...and at their ages I consider that to be a rather long conversation...LOL

I know this because after waiting for months for a shipment of bracelets from the Susan G. Komen foundation for breast cancer awareness, they were quite a bit large than the Lance Armstrong ones.

So, just my unauthorized "tip" for the day. I have read up on silicone bracelots and it seems there is a big difference in the quality issues from one company to another...for the person involved in choosing, this may be a consideration....

Personally, with the color discussion...I would opt for rainbow or a variety to symbolize the many differences in IC and it's confusing descriiptions....not realistic, I know...but a rambling thought....I too will be fine with any choice.

Annie2

Just a thought. We have alot of good information now we just need jill to look at all this and get it going. I have also seen neat tote bags. I have listed some good websites on here. They should either be on the 5 page or the last. Lets get this ball rolling.

I didn't know happiness was such a disease! :) Anyway, we need to get the ball rolling, or the "craze" will be over, and they won't sell well, and the ICN won't get any funds.

Does anyone know where all of this stands? The ICA hasn't gotten theirs out yet either.

At this point and nearing the 100th post ;) ~ I would opt for a variety of colors. I had mentioned rainbow earlier due to it's diversity "message", but think the print would be difficu;t to see...AI think the most important thing is a really good slogan....short and sweet and maybe finding a reputable company that can make these in all colors. At this point evey color is used for something else anyway. My only color to not have would be yellow...hmmmmmmmm.

When ordering bracelets, they seem to usually be in sets and typically 1.00 a piece, so I am thinking at whatever pricing is decided, if they were in a bundle and the colors were able to be chosen, everyone wins....the only thing I see is that who else will buy them aside from us? It is so unknown....so are we buying them to hand out? Breast Cancer, lance, etc they are all very well known causes and messages...but IC? I am not trying to spoil this, just wondering how much Jill can afford to purchase up front and hope to turn a profit...sounds negative, but that isn't my point....I am just a bit curious....and I really think a variety would work., but I bet I will be solo on that one.

i think the idea of having them in diff. colors so each icer could choose wouldn't be a bad idea. or even maybe picking diff. solgen to go on them I don't know how much these will cost but thought if who ever wanted to buy one or more. I know i want one for myself and one for my daughter. would like it if they could choose there own color if its isn't to much money to do this. it may be cheaper to buy one color with one solgon on it i'm not sure. but what ever is done I do know i want two of them.

I think we should do a color swirl.
I also like IC hope and strength

I have hope that I won't live everyday with pain.
I need strength to make it through every day.

Hey Everyone,

Getting so confused and know some of you are anxious...here is a link to a pretty diverse look at choices....forget the price part as I am just posting this as possibly another link...maybe if people look soon, whoever has this task...can just pick it and get it going....Okay here are three to look at for ideas:

http://www.customsiliconebracelets.com/
http://www.siliconeband.com/
http://www.abetteridea.com/stock_silicone_bracelets.htm

Okay, just so people can look....these are not chosen or discussed, just me posting a few different ways to see some ideas. Then maybe the decision can be narrowed down. :)

Hello, I was really glad to read the posts re the bracelets, what a great idea. I like the idea of support and hope, but any statement regarding IC, will be very happy to wear a bracelet supporting our cause, wonderful idea, Iris. :flower:

the idea, of having a bracelet, letting people know that i have the disease ic, i believe would be just a great idea, the color, really doesn't matter to me, just someone asking me about ic and what it is, and me being able to tell someone, is all, i would need. pittypat

i'm about to have the surgery, to have my bladder removed, after exhausting all other avenues, so, any suggestions, anyones success stories, prayers, etc. would greatly be appreciated. Also, any iformation that could be sent to me, about this surgery, would be helpful. Thank u, all my ic friends. pittypat

pittypat, I'm so sorry that your IC had driven your bladder into having to be removed but hopefully it will work for you so you may be rid of this pain or at least most of it
Good luck and I'll be thinking about you

God bless :grouphug:

I think if it's possible make it three colors in one bracelet. Navy blue light blue and white. Representing IC,Vulvodynia and white respresenting hope. Sinse they are unique conditions the bracelet would and should stand out for people to see. Or just IC with same colors respresenting the types of IC and still white for hope. This bracelet should not just be like any other it needs to stand out.

Okay... Okay... Okay! I promise I'll order this week. I want to run out to Sonoma to visit a store which sells them so that I can see the colors first hand! I like the idea of having three colors... that's kind of interesting. So, I'll let you know what I see!

Betsie! LOL! I was just looking at those and, of course, agonizing. I've got one company who will give me an excellent price... like 60c for each silkscreened bracelet. They print out millions.

Here's what they said
#1. The most common, and now boring colors, are the dark blues and vivid reds
#2. I mentioned that we were interested in a soft green or soft blue .. but was concerned about whether men would wear them. They agreed....
#3. They suggested doing a translucent shade of green or blue... and are sending me samples today!

Love the pricing.

What color on that pms chart do you like??? I have to say... I really like the turquoises... like turquoise with white printing. I think that may be a color that both men and women would like.

Jill :)

Did they indicate how long it will take to get them once you decide on a color and the saying?

The price was right, huh?

Hey Jill :)
It's cool that the bracelets are gonna be out soon.

How about hosting a poll in your Journal to pick the saying and color?
I think that'd be a good idea, if you need help deciding.

Hey Jill,

Wow, I actually connected with you online ~ LOL...well I clicked on that for the PMS, I thought OMG, there is one for PMS and a whole site devoted to it, maybe I am not going nuts....seriously, I did think that and quickly saw it was a great color chart and the site looks very interesting....but that aside, wow don't ever ask me about a color, I will spend 4 years or more narrrowing it down.

I really feel at this point and this is IMHO for sure, if you pick the color and a statement, everyone here will be happy and jumping to buy some....I still personally like the multi color option, just for the diversity...and by that I mean hey what if a guy wants one....he has a choice, but I really think the best thing is just a choice and an adequate "less is more" IC awareness logo....You started this site, you are the one that is invested in keeping it going and keeping us informed. So to me that says, you are the most suitable one, and lots of input here, Good Lord....for you to choose a way to represent a disease you have been bringing awareness to for years. Phew, take a breathe Betsie. :ignore:

So, that get's my sincerest vote ~ maybe we will see a surprise picture attachment on a post of yours soon. ;) Wouldn't that be an exciting day for the ICN....okay, that's my feedback...unless you want every member here to weigh in first! :biglaugh: :biglaugh:

Oh...well I was going to suggest...either *clear* , or *translucent clear* or *translucent graphite*

and my 2 alternate ideas:
IC (is real and will be cured) -- www.ic-network.com [note: I don't like that wording per se....but soemthing with that sentiment]

IC -- hope & perseverance -- www.ic-network.com

Jill,
I found the site that has the navy blue ribbons for IC, among other diseases we share it with.

http://www.personalizedcause.com/shop/collections/classic/detail/c_blue.html

I think it looks really good.

I like the slogans
"IC Angel"
"IC-Don't Suffer In Silence"
"IC-You Are Not In This Alone"

I also thought maybe something spiritual would be nice, but I haven't quite come up with anything yet.

I can't wait until these come out! :woohoo:

could we put this guy on it?? :toilet:
