Swimming and UTI's

Okay, has anyone found a solid connection between being in a pool and getting UTI's? Just curious ... I got a uti after a swimming incident, however, the two could be unrelated--or not???????????????

I have heard others say that the chemial in the water bother there bladders. this can cause one heck of a flare. personally it has never bothered me thank goodness.

if it's not your pool there is no telling what type of stuff is in the water be careful.

I can go swimming, but can't sit around in a wet swim suit. If I go for a short swim, then immediately go to the dressing room, urinate, and put on dry clothes, I do okay.

It killed me. It brought me out of a multi year remission when I joined a "fancy" health club with an indoor pool. I got 3 infections immediately. I didn't put it together until a few ladies started whispering about it.

When I realized I was doing water aerobics with a bunch of old incontinent people and babies in swim diapers I realized that I was just asking for trouble.

Does anybody know if ocean or saltwater pools cause UTI's?

no pools or hot-tubs for me, but I can wade in the ocean without trouble..........I never stay in the water long. I actually went into Lake Michigan this past summer for the first time in a few years, and I don't think I had any trouble. I am much better now than I was in the beginning though. :)

I have not gotten UTIs from pools, or from any other type of water I have been in, bathtubs included. I swim laps with no problem in a pool that has an ultraviolet filtration system, and just a little chlorine. But I also never had a problem in other pools, either.
