I was just wondering how Lake water affects our bladders. Do others find that it causes bladder infections, or is it safe for our bladders?

I don't find any additional flare with my bladder and lake water. I live surrounded by 2 HUGE beautiful lakes and they are fine to swim in, if you can stand the perch!

I also like to swim in the river at the bottom of our mountain but it's 53 degrees year round. NICE on HOT August days.

Just try it and see. Take your drugs with you, sunblock, and a book to read if you can't seem to stand the water.

Where are you going by the way??

Good Luck!

That is what you meant right...swim in? or Go in....if bathing doesn't bother you (which I know someone that was bothered by going in water at all) than Lake water will differ a bit by the Lake but I suspect it won't bother you. Just don't stay in too long for your first time....Than if it doesn't bother you try it for longer.

We live near a lake and it doesn't bother me to swim there --- but I can't sit around in a wet swim suit without getting in trouble.

Thanks for the words of wisdom! We are going to Lake Cumberland in Kentucky this summer, and some friends just bought a summer cottage on Elk lake in Kentucky that we will be spending some time at. I haven't spent much time in the water since developing IC, and I guess I'm getting worried about bladder infections. My IC started after a bladder infection, and I have never had another infection since. I worry that another infection might make my IC even worse. Is that true? Or am I just upsetting myself?
