I was diagnosed in October and since then I have been diagnosed with a hiatal hernia and GERD. Lately I have been having some vaginal discharge with alot of itching and burning and I was just wondering if anyone else has been having any of these symptoms or if they could be related to the IC.

There are many things that could be causing the itching and burning. Have you discussed this with your doctor? They may want to do a culture to find out what's going on there. In the meantime, there are some simple steps you can take. First of all, it's best to wear only underpants with cotton crotches; use only plain white, unscented, toilet tissue and blot (don't wipe); sometimes it helps to take showers only and stay out of the bath tub; and use a gentle soap for cleansing yourself.

Of my suggestions, the most important is to see your doctor to rule out any infection.

I too had itching and burning, mostly before and during time of diagnosis. As I have goten my bladder/urethra under control, those symptoms have practically disappeared. I will get some minor itching now around ovulation, and sometimes right before my period starts. I could only conclude, and this was after having my gyno check everything out -- and not find any "visibly measured cause", it was part of my experience with IC, I also had horrible vulvar pain.

I agree with Donna, it's best to discuss it with your doc, as I did -- and go from there.

Tracey :)

:welcome: I too have GERD...you are far from a lone with this group with that. I most definatly agree that you need to have your other symptom addressed with your doctor. Please let us know how that goes. I will say a prayer that that you feel better soon.

I too had a Hiatus Hernia that caused a lot of problems. I had an operation 2 years ago called a Nissan Fundoplication, where they tied the top of the stomach around the base of the oesophagus to stop the reflux. Worked wonderfully, except that now I can't vomit which caused problems with a bout of food poisoning a while back!
You don't very often find people with just IC. I wonder why that is.
