Had hydro and polyps removed today

Hi everyone,
Today i had my first hydro at the hospital. When the Dr. came out and talked to me in recovery he took my hand and said" You poor girl,you have been suffering way too long". He told me that I had a bunch of inflamed polyps which i knew I had since 2001, but I guess there were alot of them. He removed them all...most of which were at the urethra and bladder neck. He said my urethra was very inflamed and that I had pinpoint bleeding everywhere...no hunners tho, thank goodness. He said my bladder capicity was only about 100 cc. but after distension was about 500 so I should have alot of relief. Thank goodness he sent me home with pain meds with 1 refil :woohoo: and macrodantin.

NOW!....I feel like I am going to die or wish I would LOL when I pee. I could not imagine this kind of pain after this. My urethra must be hamburger right now, altho my bladder is not too bad!!!

I feel such a sense of validation now with the diagnoses andsome compassion from my Dr......as you know he was not good to me at all my first visit.

I am going to lay low take my pain pills drink my water and keep my ziplock full of ice between my legs!

I appreciate all your support and welcome any comfort measures you all have.

BTW!...when I woke up after the proceedure I had bad left kidney pain and I feel throbbing now.Think thats normal?

Kidney pain is not abdnormal. Many people seem to have some with IC....not sure why...but definatly tell your doc about it!!!!

So very sorry you are in so much pain....but thrilled you have some compassion from your doctor!

I hope your recovery goes very well and you are the road to feeling a lot better!!!

hon i have had right kidney pain for so long they have did everything they can think of to see if there is something wrong with that kidney cat scans ivp some other test i'm not sure of there names but there is a list of them.

finally they have put a name on it but there isn't nothing to prove i have it its called cystitis of the kidney.

In either case this being your first time or even if its been many times you need to tell your doctor any new systoms let him know.

I hope you feel better in the morning many people get over the hydro/c within a few days but i have hunners :( and it takes longer for me. we all heal diffly. i hope now that he has seen it for himself he will treat you better.

I'm so glad to hear your dr. is so compassionate, and that your procedure went okay and you're home now.

Definitely get some rest for the next few days and hopefully your pain level will decrease each day!

Those first few urinations after a hydrodistention are pretty awful, but after that hopefully you'll feel better pretty quickly.

What a nice turnaround with your doctor. :) I am glad he was so nice to you after the procedure.

boo hoo..snifle snifle.. I feel like I am going to pass out and throw up when i pee. I pant and my heart races and its just indescribable. I just moan and walk around for minutes after peeing hoping to walk off the burn. Maybe since all those polyps were removed it is worse today. I feel very bloated everywhere, have gas and still have the kidney throbbing. I am just a whining mess today !!

I will call the Dr and let him know about the kidney pain... and keep the zip lock full of ice,drink my water etc.
I am just miserable...sorry to be such a bummer:(

I TOTALLY understand what you are going through. After I had mine and i would pee, I would walk around the house moaning and crying for ten minutes!! AND my doc kept telling me to drink more water, but of course that makes you pee more and peeing was my problem!
Just try to stay down and make sure you keep taking the pain meds. Dont let up on those, even if you feel a little bit better. Let us know how you are doing.

:) Tonight I am finally peeing without gasping and screaming!!. Everyone is right ...it takes a few days. I found that as long as i take Pyridium and my vicodin every 31/2 hrs I am starting to see my pain level going down Thank God!! my neighbor told me she heard a scream ...lol ...coming from my house...is everything ok?(She was in her backyard...next to my bathroom).. I told her what had happened hydro and all ...and she said she knew something must be wrong since she has not heard sceaming before. Good thing she didn't call the police lolol!!!

I still feel urethra throbbing and have a big belly....whats with that? But, I can now see that things are getting better :)

Change of subject...made me smile today.....My pedigree siamese kitty is going to deliver in about 2 weeks. Today while I was taking a nap she squirreled her way into my covers and fell asleep belly to my belly. I awoke to little tiny kicks from her belly....isn't that sweet! Tears came to my eye as i thought of the comfort shes giving me and precious babies inside her.
