Hi,
I am curious if others have had bad reactions to candy. I love love love love candy, but sometimes when I eat it I get the rumbling and terrible cramps.
It only happens when I eat candy that is covered in sugar (like peachfuzzies or sourkeys). I ate about a handful an hour ago and I am in so much pain! It also bloats me to double my size. I know that candy is obviously causing me pain, but does anyone else have this? I eat plenty of things with sugar that don't bug me.
I am so mad!
Please help! :shake:
I know I am a little whiny, but I have already eliminated a lot of my fav. things like pop and pretty much anything with oil (incl. chicken fingers, I am still mourning this loss :( ).

I suggest you read the label to see if those peachfuzzies and sourkeys contain citric acid --- it wouldn't surprise me, given the names. You may be able to tolerate other kinds of candy fine.

Ditto what Donna said.

You might try it with Prelief & see if that helps. It could be citric acid or one of the colorants in the candy.

If not there are other candies that might be okay (Werthers caramels, Panda black licorice, carob malt balls on sale in ICN store, carob raisins, some brands of candy corn, white chocolate KitKat-take Prelief with it though.)

Hope you can still have your treats & if not, that you can find something you like even better!

Yup, I was thinking citric acid in the sour ones, maybe?

Yes, I think you are all correct . . . this morning I downed 10 of the same candies and within an hour my tummy was bubbling and cramping (I had to make sure, esp when giving up something like candy :cussing: !)
I think you may be correct about the acid, the last time I had such a bad reaction (since I started a special diet) was when I had a few clementines at Christmas.
Thanks for the advice!

Yes, I found sugar to upset my system. I've resorted using stevia in my tea and giving up all sugar. I'm hoping that eventually when my flare up is over I'll be able to eat other things.

Hi,
Does anyone think maybe there is a Candida (systemic) -- IBS link. And because sugar feeds the yeast you may be having this reaction? Just curious!!
