View Full Version : Had Hydro Yesterday
So I had my hydro yesterday at about 5pm. It went okay, got a little nauseous, threw up, then went home and slept for a bit. However, I probably got about 2 hours of sleep total last night because I got up to pee literally every 20 min. and I had to strain to pee. I even had to take some higher pain meds than they prescribed but I still couldn't stop peeing. Does anyone know if this is normal?? Please help!!!

In my personal experience, the first couple days after the cysto/hydro are painful. I usually try to have mine done on a Friday so I have the weekend to get through those immediate painful days. My pain actually gets worse for about 3 days, but after that tapers off to near pain free.(pain I can tolerate without pain meds, etc.) I also am lucky enough that this procedure is awesome in relieving my pain for 6-9 months.
Hugs,

No I did not have that problem because they gave me a catheter for 24 hours. I had pain but not a lot of urgency and or frequency

discomfort can happen after the procedure we are all different . However it is possible to get a infection so if your symptoms persist you may want to check with your doctor just to check. Hoping your feeling better,

That was exactly what happened to me after my hydro. I would sit there on the toliet in SO much pain, only to have like 2 drops come out. It was so painful, peeing was the worst part. That went away after about 3 weeks for me, but I think I healed slower than most here. Most people told me three days for the healing.
Hope you feel better soon!!

I am appy to report that I am feeling much better. I am not peeing nearly as much and am able to sleep now. I am hoping this will last. I wanted to thank all of you for your kind words and for your help, it is so great to have some people to talk to through out this. Now I have to get over the not having sex for 3 weeks part though!! :(

the last two i have had i did the same thing. I was swollen down there feb 8 after i had mine done but i believe its because somebody didn't know how to read a chart saying nothing with asprin in it asprin seems to shut me down. but the swelling came from having so much done i believe on that last trip to the O.R.
i hope you feel better soon and please try to rest.
sending you hugs and prayers

Myca,
Yeah!! I am so happy to hear you are feeling better now. I know how you feel about the sex part, that really sucked!! Especially since I am still in pain even now!! Oh the lovely life of an ICer!
Are you married?? How long have you had IC for?? I was just diagnosed in Jan, so I am still getting used to all of this. But I know how you feel about this group, it has helped me SO much, I would have been lost by now without the group.
Anyway, so glad to hear you are feeling better now. Take Care

If you ever have it done again, try ice packs to reduce the swellig. That helped me get through it the most along with cathing myself when I had to pee.
Glad to hear you are feeling better now. I hope it lasts! :grouphug:
The first few days for me are horribly painful. But lucky the pain went away after about 4 days.
