NEW HOUSE!

Guess What?? We got a house. I got into a conversation with a friend from church and was saying that we are looking for a house to rent, and that there are just not any rentals out in the country where we want to live. (As if Living in Arkansas in comparrison to KC is 'city' life) Anyway, he said to me that He knew for a fact that there IS a rental out there and he was helping with it's rental. The owner is in a nursing home and has been for a long while and the neices - who are handling his affairs live in TN and GA. So, they want to rent this place ~ for ONLY $300.00 a month. Just a nice 2 BATHROOM, 2 Bedroom, house with just a little land (like 200 acres) It has been empty for awhile, and it still has some furniture in it, like about everything I need to live happily, and we were told we can usy anything we want to that's there, but we have a house full of furniture in storage. So this house has a seperate 2 car garage, an old barn, a shed close to the house, a storage building with the 'well bladder' in it. Hmmmm, that's where my good bladder is, it's in the storage building) A little building that looks like it used to be maybe a chicken coop, but we really don't know. And there are other buildings on the land. So, we are going to move the furniture into one of the storage buildings. There are so many personal effects that I can't believe those nieces did not take. About 1/2 of the furniture is antique. I mean ranging from civil war, to 50's deco. The house needs cleaning and painting, so I am going to be doing that a lot. Cleaning will start immediately. We're shooting for a move date of March 1st. Wow! A new job and a new house on thesame day?!! God is Good All the Time. Thanks for your prayers. I am going to the doc this afternoon for my back. I feel like if I back were a stick , and the stick were broken, If you rubbed the 2 broken points together, that grinding and the pain, that's my back. Still can't walk right. How am I ever going to start a new job tomorrow like that?? Pray. Thanks. Michelle.

It sounds like things are turning around for you. What a find! Just don't do the lifting yourself --- let others take care of the moving --- they need somebody to tell them what to do. I hope that back clears up soon.

I am so upset at the 'neices' of the owners of this house! They supposedly came and took what they wanted out of the house a few years ago. Well ~ there are so many personal things there that my daughter and I found yesterday. Important things like an antique double strand of pearls, an OLD nice (WALTHAM) watch with diamonds, and in an envelope was a tooth and a gold band. The envelope said "Uncle Al's tooth". Strange items, too. There is a letter from the SMithsonian Institute to Ms. Alice (the deceased wife) where they sent her a bone to look at and get her opinion. And a carbon copy of her reply ot them about it. There is a calendar of her days. It says things like "called on the Jones'" or "Jack (I think he was a dog) got caught in a trap again" then a week or so later "Put Jack Down" "Planted 2 rows of potatoes" "Planted lettuce and radishes" "Took down storm windows" "Hot Today" There are also paintings by Alice on the walls. And we found her easel, a work in progress, paints, palette, and oil pastels. My daughter is begging me to keep these items. She is really into drawing and painting. We found tax receipts for the land dating from '56 to recently. We also found out that Ms. Alice was a realtor in Salina, KS, went to college in Wichita, KS, and was very religious. So, this woman, who lived a simple life in the country, was an amazing woman. She was a scientist, an artist, a Christian, never a mother, but possibly a photographer. There is also a drawer full of OLD cameras. I don't know much about her husband, the one that is in the nursing home. I know that he was a good man, at least that is what the people who knew him said. Anyway, the whole point of this post is to say that we took the kids to the new house and showed them the place. They love it. We are still planning on cleaning on Saturday and maybe cleaning the carpets?? Any volunteers for hard unpaid labor are welcome. ;-) Michelle.

What a fun house! If it were me, I would probably pack up those personal effects and check one more time with the family before I did anything else. That is some neat stuff that could never be replaced. Sorry, I am a little far away for all your fun on Sat.

Wow! That house sounds great. Just like my grandparent's house. I am originally from Louisiana, but have lived in Arkansas since I was 12. Old houses like that are so great. So much history, so much life. The little house we bought 5 years ago was in a shambles. We have completely remodeled it from ceiling, wiring, to new floors. My husband's in the middle of finishing my office in the kitchen. This little house is over 80 years old. One of the oldest in Sherwood. The greatest thing, is that it's on an acre, in the middle of town! All of the construction around us is brand new and the houses run from $150,000 to $400,000. So we made a great investment. But most of all this little house has love. My children have grown so much here. My husband and I have worked out huge problems from everyday quarrels to my IC over a cup of coffee and a question of where to put another electrical outlet. It has been therapeutic, and a blessing. God sent us this house to help us grow. So many times it has helped take my mind off of my pain, even if for just an hour or two. I may never be cured from IC, but I am so thankful for my family support. Have fun! Enjoy your house and new job and your life. Don't let this stupid disease get the best of you. I'll be praying for you. Be careful and don't take on too much each day, it'll be there tomorrow. Space out any really hard tasks, especially lifting. Rest as much as you can. Take care!
