hydroxyzine and pain meds

hello...can I take pain medication along with my hydroxyzine?? Should the Hydroxyzine help with the pain enough that I do not need the pain meds??/

JUst picked up my pain med and hydroxizine and it said to be careful. Ask you dr and make sure he knows everything your taking. I don't take a lot of pain med but have taken a small about with hyrdoxizine. My dr said it was ok but would make a lot more sleepy.., this is very true!

Hi Hart, i know this is an old thread but just in case you did not get an answer I thought ai would tell you my experience.
In the begining when my body was not use to it I could not even take the elavil together which was prescribed. my Dr. then said take your pain pill an hour before the hydroxyzine instead of together ao I could see if it bothered me

Now 4 years of taking 50 mgs of atarax(hydoxy) and 25 mg of elavil I can take both of those together with my vicodin and there is no prob for me. I think its just a matter of my body developing a tolerance

Same thing happend to me,with Atarax and sleeping pill. I think you have to listen to your body, and go with that. Good Luck.
