Hi all,
I noticed a few people here like Fantasy books, so I want to make a recommendation here.
The author is Guy Gavriel Kay, and of his books I recommend reading the Fionavar Tapestry Trilogy (The Summer Tree, The Longest Road, and The Wandering Fire). These are fantastic novels and they're great for the guys and the ladies!
Kay is a Canadian writer, so in the States he may not be as readily available, but he's widely published and any major bookstore/library should be able to get their hands on a copy if they don't have it already.
The books are very Tolkien-esque (infact Tolkien's son has enlisted Kay's help to collect many of Tolkien's letters), and written definitely in homage to the great writer. You'll notice a lot of themese that carry over between the two authors.
Basically the story is about a group of 5 young adults who get whisked away to another world and become wrapped up in the events that unfold becoming integral parts of this new world. I know that's pretty general, and I'd like to say more, but I hate giving too much away.
So......go on, go get them. Read. Seriously, go.
Cheers,
Steve
