Wow! What a day I had yesterday!

So I'm sitting on the :toilet: as usual when I hear a strange noise. I finish up (as fast as my bladder will let me) and run to discover water gushing out from under my kitchen sink!! I run outside to find the main water shut off valve, after unsuccessfully trying to reach the one under the sink since the power of the water kept knocking me down!! I finally get the water shut off and go back to see the flood in my kitchen. I try to stop the water from getting to the rest of the house and call my husband at work. He reluctantly agrees to come home saying he is really busy and shouldn't leave (never mind his brand new refinished kitchen is under water!).

Taking a breath...ok... so my husband gets home and he finds the burst water hose that connects to the dishwasher, turns off the shutoff valve under the sink, and asked me to go out and turn the water main back on. I go outside barefoot (since I have been wading ankle deep in my flood) and step on a bee! So I am hopping around screaming to my husband to help me get the stinger out and the dog runs out the open front door and gate and sprints away to who knows where!! My husband and I look at each other and burst out laughing between the tears! :biglaugh:

We finally find the dog, stop my foot from swelling, mop up the flood and replace the hose beneath the sink. We rip the baseboards off our beautiful new cabinets hoping to save them by drying them out with a space heater. Then we notice water running out beneath our outside front wall of the house! So we drill a hole into our wall to let the water drain out before the wall breaks open!

My husband got up at 4am to go to work this morning to make up for yesterday. I am going to the doc in an hour to get an instill and have pelvic floor therapy.

Please  that today is better than yesterday!
Thanks for letting me rant!

Now that is a day for the funniest family memories. We've had some doozies too... and they all seem to center around my mom. Take, for example, the time she came and gathered my sibs and I to look at a hawk flying low over the house. As she pointed up to it, talking excitedly, a smaller bird flew right over her and, well, let one go... right into her mouth.

mmmm..... then, more recently, we had a contractor working on the house and he sent up some kids to help clean out our attic... where a family of roof rats had taken up residence. They pulled all the boxes out and then swept up the droppings.... only to leave them on the top of our 2nd refrigerator out in the garage. You got it... mom goes out to the freezer, opens the door... the bag... droppings and all.... falls right on her head. That became an immediate and mad dash to the shower.

Or the time I made lasagna for my sis and nephews during the grape crush... only to discover that I left the thin clear paper on alll the cheese strips.

Or Grandmother making weevil soup not once, but twice.... at my Aunts house. Funny stories... and I hope that this will become one of your funny family memories too!

Oh yeah! I have enough of those kinds of stories to fill a book...hmmm, maybe I will, that would be a freat scrapbook/journal idea!

One of my favorites, is the day I was hauling the 25lb bag of kitty litter upstairs, on a litterbox cleaning mission...Well, my kitty Cali used to be what we call the "pace cat", she would set the pace for you on the stairs, and needless to say, it's not quick. I got 2 steps from the top, the bag ripped, and flipped upside down, spilling kitty litter all down the steps, it just kept waterfalling from one step to the next and so forth. There was nothing I could do but laugh, and pray nobody thought it might be a new style of litter box!!! And on the bright side, it was CLEAN litter!!!

 what a day! So glad you and your hubby laughed to release that stress of one of after the other problem. Hope your foot is better. So hope that doesn't happen after we are done finishing our kitchen!

Jill, I really feel sorry for your Mom...my Mom is always the center of the badluck stories too...maybe because she is very good at laughing at herself??

Hee hee, thanks Jaime! :) I had the choice to cry or laugh...I had to choose laugh-- otherwise my contacts get all fuzzy, lol! It seemed like it could only happen to me...glad to read that I am not alone in those kinds of days!!! Oooooh, reminds me of the dead mouse in my granny boot....I was getting ready to go out with friends, and I put my boot on, not looking inside, well, I felt a lump. Thought it was my sock bunched up, stomped my foot (ick) a couple times, to unlump it, nope no good. I was on my porch, decided take my shoe off and fix my sock...as I did so, I looked in the shoe...and there was the dead mouse! I screamed the shoe flew one way, the dead mouse the other! Thank god no neighbors were out, it was a loud scream. And to this day, I pray it was dead before I put my shoe on (gotta love kitties and their "gifts"), and I now always check my shoes BEFORE I put them on!!!!

Look on the bright side, Jenny, you got a weeks/months worth of "incidents" over in one day!!! You're good now! LOL

Thanks for the stories! It's good to know that stuff doesn't just happen to me. So far no disasters today (knock on wood)!
Have a good day everyone!
