sucessfully treating urinary incontinance with STEM CELLS taken from patients'own arm muscles. In a study of 20 incontinent women, 18 were completely continent one year after injection with their own stem cells & 1 was greatly improved. The oldest was an 84 yr old woman, did not respond to the treatment, but researchers say it may take larger number of stem cells & more time for very elderly patients who have been incontinent for a long time. For the study, stem cells from a single donor site-the left arm of the patient- were cultured for 6 weeeks & then reinjected into the patient's uretha & sphincter muscles. The stem cells differwntiated into both muscle cells & connective tissue to thicken the uretha & bulk up sphincter muscles.

I found this in my local paper this morning. Sounds hopeful, I think.
