Hey everyone,
I just wanted to talk about my first hydrodistention two Fridays ago. It went okay I guess, except that it brought my period on immediately after it happened, so it complicated everything. I have horrible periods so you can imagine how exciting that was. It was my first hydro (I'm 19) so as far as they go I suppose it was alright. I was feeling okay except now. I'm having flare-up like burning and a feeling in my bladder that I've never felt before. It's like a pulling sensation, especially when I go to the bathroom. I don't have a follow-up appointment with my doctor until April 7th. My boyfriend who lives in Michigan is visiting March 22nd and I'm worried that I'm not going to feel well. This is the first chance we'll get to be intimate, and we've been waiting so long, and I don't want to wait anymore. But at this point, he wouldn't even be able to touch me, it burns so bad. So I'm wondering if anyone else has gone through the same things, and if you've started to feel better, and also if you have any advice for me. Thanks so much you guys, I really appreciate it. I'm just freaking out and could use some words of IC wisdom! It's been a week and a half and I thought I was supposed to be feeling better, but now I'm just feeling worse! :help:

Could you have a bladder infection? Can you tell the difference? Did they give you an antibiotic after the procedure?

I was thinking about that, but they gave me antibiotics for 3 days that I took in full, so I don't think it could be that, but thanks. I could check in a few days or so...

A.J: First of all, I would CALL your URO even though you don't have an appointment until April. I have had 3 hydro's done. I know exactly what you are talking about. I called my URO right away and I was told to double up on the pain meds, because taking the regular dose wasn't even touching the pain, and take my pyridium plus. I did, and It helped. Have you been follwowing the IC diet?

As far as burning...Camomile tea, cornsilk, and heating pad help me. As you know with IC, sex can be very difficult. You have to have a very understanding (and gentle) partner. My husband is a GOD send. He has been very understanding. Just take it slow...and take one day at a time. warm hugs coming your way...trust me when I say...you will get through this. It just takes time. :kissing:

Even though you took antibiotics for a few days after the procedure, that's been long enough ago that you could have an infection --- I do agree you should call your uro's office and arrange to be seen.

Sending healing thoughts,
