I'm miscarrying. My baby had no heart beat when I went for first appt. on Wed. I am concerned that D & C will upset my bladder and also heard that 1 in 200 women can get a perforation of the uterus into the bladder when having a D & C. This info was in the paperwork that my Dr. gave me. So I am wondering if anyone here has had a D & C and had any problems with their IC or if they have had none.

Thanks,
Chelsea

I am sorry you are miscarrying. :( I had a miscarriage with my first pregnancy - but I was very early - only 5 weeks. It was still devastating for my husband and I - I have never felt so sad in my life.

I did not need a D&C at that stage so I really don't know a lot about the procedure.

Lots of {{{{HUGS******** and if you ever want to talk PM or e-mail, OK? :kissing:

Chelsea, I am so sorry for your loss. Lots of warm hugs and prayers coming your way. I did have a D&C done YEARS ago, before I even knew I had IC, I wouldn't know if it will upset your bladder. Sorry.

I am so sorry.. I had a miscarriage but it was before Ic.. It certainly is not an easy thing to deal with.. I did not have a D&C at that time but had one on later years.. recovery was quick and I had np..

Chelsea,
I am so sorry for your loss. I miscarried three times(after 4 years of infertility) before I successfully carried a pregnancy. I have never had to have a D&C for them, but I wouldn't be concerned about the D&C causing your IC to flare.(Personal opinion, not medical advice) It seems to me that leaving anything in your uterus and the potential for infection due to that might make your IC flare big time. There is an awesome support group called Resolve Through Sharing that I became active in--which was convenient because I worked Mother Baby Unit. I am also here for you as well when you are ready--don't feel like you owe anyone anything. You take care of you(and family), beyond that its on your timetable.

Hugs and warm thoughts,
Barb :kissing:  :grouphug:

Chelsea,

I am so very sorry... I had many miscarraiges before I carried my three kidlets to term, and can feel your sadness. I only had to have two D&C's, but had no problems with either of them. I'm in agreement that regardless of the bladder situation, you need to have the procedure to be sure everything heals the way it should.

Please know that we are all praying for you and your husband, and hope that you take the time you need to grieve your loss. No matter the age of our babies, they are still our babies and the loss felt is tremendous. Please pm me if you need to talk, I'm here for you.
