View Full Version : ********* powder to prevent UTI's
Has anyone ever heard of this or tried it? Apparently, it keeps the bacteria from adhearing to the bladder. I have been on preventitive antibiotics which are causing all kinds of side effects. The literature on this is very interesting.

Its not allowed here. So the name has been blcoked. Its a fancy name for sugar plain and simple and. There have been many people selling it as cure for IC and its fraud...leaving many people with empty pockets and no improvement with their health. Many of the companies that do sell it are being investigated and even being shut down.
If cranberry pills are sold to help prevent ecoli from sticking to the bladder, why is this so impossible?
I have read abstracts from Israel and Japan. Why is this more of a hoax than any "sponser" products?
It's not just a sugar, it's a different type.
It's not being sold as a cure for IC. They showed it to me at
Whole Foods.
What evidence do you have that it is hurting people?

Just to clarify... we blocked this specific product because the major company involved was selling it as a preventative for IC.. as well as a treatment for kidney infections... both of which are outrageous claims.
IC is not related to ecoli infection. IC patients typically have no bacteria in their urine. REmember... IC is more like an injury rather to the bladder. Also, to claim and suggest that this is a treatment for kidney infection endangers the life of a patient who may not seek proper medical care in time. There were several other untested claims as well.
I will also say that I personally contacted the company on several occasions. I couldn't get anyone to talk with me, including their product manager. I don't believe that they really understand the difference between IC and cystitis. Unlike other supplement companies, they had not invested any funds in conducting research that would prove their claims related to IC.
On the otherhand, the products you find on our website have significant research studies behind them which support their use specifically for IC. These companies diligently sought to test out and prove their claims. You can read the guest lectures on each supplement for their specific research information.
I refuse to promote the sale of this sugar pill as a treatment for IC. Sorry... but they failed to meet even the lowest standard in the Oxford Univ. Medical Quality of Information Ratings... i.e. evidence based medicine ratings.

Jill,I had no idea about what went on in the past. I have had IC for 11 years and suddenly have had 7 bladder infections in 14 months. I am looking to prevent them as they have brought me out of a very long remission.
I'll just drop this whole thing but just so you know, there are many companies that sell this stuff-it's not just one company. The name I used was the ingredient, not the product name.
I have enough experience with IC to recognize an unreasonable claim. As a matter of fact, I have tried many of the products you do sell and they have made me worse.
I won't mention them because I don't want to get kicked off the board.

HI, Indie,
I have not tried that product but have heard of it and have heard of it working successfully for some people with IC. I have also read many research articles written by noteworthy indivuals with years of experience working with IC that have found bacteria in many patients with IC. However, this bacteria has also been found in those without IC. The question is why some individuals develop a reaction and symptoms and why some do not. I have had a broth culture done and have been tested positively for many strains of bacteria in my bladder. So, I am not opposed to this product being successful for some individuals. I say, give it a try if you like and make the decision for yourself!
Much luck!

I have iC and struggle with chronic infection. I take a product called Silverbiotics. They too have done extensive reasearch and for the most part this allows me to not live on constant antibiotics. The company was willing to talk to me also! BUT if I show infection I do take regular antibiotics too!In the past I was only going higher and higher on regular antibiotics.

Indy,
I also forgot to tell you to do a search for the sugar that is not allowed to be printed on here and the word "forum". So type in the search bar ""the name of the sugar (since I can't print it on here without it being blocked) and forum"
If you type this in you will find some forums where individuals used this for UTI's. I know I found at least one post where it discusses how someone had IC, used it and the IC cleared up. There are other posts where the people did not have IC but had multiple UTI's a year but stopped having them once they began taking the sugar. It may be helpful and useful to find these forums.
Hope this helps,
Stephanie
