Pill/Patch

Hi Everyone,

I am looking for some input on your experience with the pill or patch. Is there anyone who is using the pill or patch as a form of treatment for IC?

Also, for those of you who are on the patch and started on the first day of your menses...did you experience an extra few days of light bleeding?

Your thoughts on this are appreciated.

HI Kim,
I take the pill Seasonale. Not for treatment per se but find that it does help with IC symptoms around the time I should start my cycle. With this particular pill you have an 81 day cycle vs your normal 28 days which means only 1 period every 3 months. My IC symptoms, like many other women, increased significantly around that time of the month. Since I started the pill back in Sept, (Just one period in Dec. since then) my IC symptoms aren't as bad.
I used the patch briefly but found I had a hard time keeping it on. It would tend to fall off after a few days. Maybe someone who is using it regularly will post to help with that part of the question

I have used the Evra patch for over 2 yrs. Overall, it helps my IC pain. When I go off the patch for a few days to bleed, my pain increases. Usually, within 24-48 hrs. of putting it back on, the pain decreases. And, if you get migraines, the patch is better because it's a more even delivery system than the daily pill, according to my doctor, and I agree. Good luck.

I had a lot of pain when I used the first patch on the first day of my menses...the pain decreased as soon as my menses was done. But I still had bleeding for an extra few days-- light bleeding that is... Did any of you have that?
