I have had IC for most of my life. My most recent flare started a couple of years ago. When it first started I was on Depo Provera shots, which eliminated my periods. Just over a year ago I switched to the Ortho Evra patch. My gyno said I have to be off the shot for at least a year before trying to get pregnant. I decided that we are getting closer to starting a family, so I went ahead and went off of the shot. I have trouble with high blood pressure, so I went with the patch instead of birth control pills.

So here's my problem. When I first started on the patch I had trouble with very painful periods. I was having very severe cramps. I figured it might be because I hadn't had them for a couple of years. They have gotten much better, but my cramps are still worse than they were before all this. I don't know if it's a result of my IC or if it could be something else. I've read about endemetriosis. I don't want to jump the gun or anything. It could be related to IC or even the birth control patch. Or it could be just this point in my life. I do have yearly exams with my gyno. I called a couple of times about my cramps and they suggested different things. I've found that taking Aleve helps most. Also, my periods aren't usually super heavy or anything. I've had a couple that are, but I think that's common.

Anyway, I was wondering if any of you have painful periods without endo, stuff like that. My periods are no longer so painful that they prevent me from doing things like they were the first few months, but they still do inhibit me a bit. I also tend to have slight lower back pain and am ocassional nausea. Also, as a side note, my IC symptoms have improved a lot over the last few months after I made some diet changes. Maybe that's why I'm noticing my period symptoms more now that my IC is feeling better.

I guess I'm just looking for input. I'm about halfway between yearly gyno appointments, but I'm wondering if I shouldn't go ahead and call to get in sooner. Thanks so much! :)

I don't have endo but do have very painful peroids i'm taking b.c pills to try to help with it but my peroid is coming anyways matter of fact i been bleeding now for three weeks my gyn told me today to take my b.c pills two at a time until sunday then monday just let it go. when it runs it course it should be over with he is putting me in for a hysterectomy for may 17 he is waiting to give me time to get over the lap leep hydro/c removal of scar tissue and removal of hunners plus give my inc. time to okay this. where he can go in and take it out.
i'm still iffy about it. Kind of scared don't really know if i'm going to go threw with it yet or not.
i know this isn't a way your going to go because your trying to start a family and i wish you so much luck with that its going to be so joyful when you get preg and have that bundle of joy in your arms.
sending you hugs and prayers

Thanks for getting back with me, Rhonda. I just get nervous that something else is going to go wrong. I think it's also because I'm finally starting to get my IC under control. Maybe I'm waiting for another shoe to drop and there isn't one! (At least that's what I hope.)

I hope that everything goes well for you and you start feeling better. It sounds like you are going through a lot right now. You're right, a hysterectomy really isn't an option for me right now. We're sort of waiting another couple of years so, hopefully, my health will get better and I will be more established in my career since I'm self-employed. We'll see how it goes.

Anyway, thanks for your response! :kissing: I hope you feel better soon!

I never had a problem with my periods till about a 4years ago. Now I always have about two days of very painfull periods and the preasure down below feels like everything is just falling right out of me. I have been checked several times and no female issues going on.
