Today I was feeling good for most of the day until towards later tonight. Today was my birthday (23 today) and like last year only three people in my family actually remembered and only one of my friends. Kinda makes me hate being another year older. Plus to make matters worse this past week I had my first flare up in over a year. It only lasted a day but I know that means more are on the way :( guess I'm out of remission again.
Does anyone have any pointers on how to get over the birthday blaws?
Ciao

thanks. So far my flare has been coming and going and most of yesterday I was alright until late night then the pain came on. I'm not doing too badly today it's just an irritated feeling right now and luckily the flares aren't as bad as they used to be. Wonder if it's the stress of a company coming to visit next week that's putting me in a flare.
Thanks again to both of you

hello amy. :birthday: I know how you feel. Ever since my Dad has passed away in March 2004, I don't even reconized any holidays anymore. It sucks but it will get better for you. It seems like ever since you turn twenty one birthdays really don't seem like a big deal. I'm 29 and going to be 30 this year. Little scared but hey I just live one day at a time. My Parents have never been big on our birthdays. I usually have to call my mom and ask her what day it is on my birthday. I guess birthdays aren't really big in my family. I don't talk to my sister's so they never call and say Happy Birthday. I know exactly how you feel. I you need to talk more Please PM me anytime.

Happy Birthday! Be sure to recognize it yourself and make it a big deal for yourself. I'm hoping every year that passes brings at least some good and happy memorable times for you, and that is reason to celebrate. Also, it is another year of living in God's beautiful world and seeing the good things mankind can do! Cherish your birthday and do something for yourself.

First of all :birthday: Do something for yourself, maybe something simple but it is for YOU !
I was just through this birthday stuff myself, the big "40" last week. UGH. It never bothered me at all until I got out of bed that day. I too am suffering from a flare and it was increased from a fall that Monday. Eck, so not only was I stiff from the fall my IC flared even more. Anyway as I was crawling out of bed on the big "40" day, my boyfriend having the whorped sense of humour that he has says "oh, is this what being 40 is all about" I shot him a glance and then he realized what he has said vs the reasons and he felt so bad. He apologized and then we laughed about it all.
Laughter is the best medicine.

I never realy thought much of adult birthdays as I got older, though I pulled out all the stops for my children. I tend to brush mine off, with very little thought. I do enjoy celebrating other';s though....I explained this to a friend last summer and she reminded me f friends I have lost in recent years and that I should celbrate just having another birthday....so my thinking has changed...though this year is a biggie, so I might want to retreat...LOL.
Listen, you had a bad day and a flare, make it up to yourself, either with friends or alone....but treat yourself to some time out. A massage, a pedicure or something else pampering. a new outfit, or just a fun dinner out with friends...we used to call them un-birthdays when the kids were little...this defined celebrating the birthdays of those children not able to celebrate a school birthday due to summer ones....so how about an Un-birthday on another day....plan it, invite friends and just have lots of laughs, spend lots of money on ourself, or NOT, as its about celebrating in general....let us know when you have your re-do!!! :kissing:

Oh so true Betsie, celebrate it on another day. I do. I have Valentines day on the 14th, my birthday on the 17th and our anniversary on the 22cd. 9 chances out of 10, James is away with his sled race team as that is prime racing season so I generally am alone on all three dates. Sucks so I've changed them all to July 14, July 17 and July 22. Still all in a row, lots of presents then...lol
