Well it's been 3 days now after the cysto/hydro and I am not any better. Has anyone ever taken longer to recover? I already called the doctor and he said it's normal. He is pretty much blowing me off. My husband overheard him saying to his nurse "all she wants is drugs" I am really scared this is not going to away. I have had cystos/hydros before and I was fine the next day. I am sorry guys, I am just scared out of my mind. My husband went back to work today too, and I have to take my 5 year old to school pick her up and I don't even know how i am going to drive. I am on antibitics, so I don;t think I have an infection, but how long does it take to get back to normal? Thanks for listening.

I would say it was a solid week for me, perhaps longer. I had multiple procedures, so that is a factor, however those were in my abdomen, etc., so I doubt they had an impact, just dealth with healing in different places. My uro did give me a months worth of pain relief after, so I assume he expected the pain to continue for a bit. I hope it gets better soon.

yeap i agree it took me a week or sometimes longer to get feeling better. i'm still recovering from feb 8 but I had more done this time. leep, lap, hydro/c. removal of hunners and scar tissue.

try to rest while your babie is in school use old faithful heating pad or ice which ever your bladder likes better.

sending you hugs and prayers

It takes about 2 weeks for to recover from Cysto/Hydro procedure and I read in the "Survival Guide" that it can take up to 3 weeks for some people...So hang in there, OK. The first time I had it done, it only took a couple of days for me to recover and it seems that it takes a bit longer everytime I have it done, but the pain-free time also lasts longer for me too....so hopefully that will be the case for you too!!

I agree with everyone else - it generally takes a week or two to recover fully.

I hate that your doc said that to your nurse. :( That must have been hurtful for you to find out....

Well Dana, I am on day 13 and i am still in the most pain of my entire life. I swear I didnt know pain this bad even existed!!! So, yes I think it can take longer than 3 days to recover. My uro treated me the same way yours is being with you. He was so mean to me when I called in there to say it hurt. I would try to stay down as much as possible. Hope you feel better soon.
Love Sarah

I had a cysto a week ago yesterday ( 2nd one in a year), last nite and today the dang burning is back.I took a vinegar and epsom salts bath for 1 hour, then i took a pyridum plus and put on a TENS machine that i had for back probs many years ago. Immediately the burning is less. I read online to put tens pads in between the belly button and pubic hair. I go back to the dr day after tomorrow. I had all kinds of weird after effects this time. bleeding from rectum - he gave me and B&O (opium) that gave me esophageal reflux so bad that i had to have a nitro tab, then the bleeding came and went with tissue, he said that was normal... i did not have it last time. I am really tired of this. My tummy is soooo bloated. I take elminiron and pyridum plus and 1/2 of a vicodin if it is horrible. It is effecting my life horribly. I turn 50 friday... I feel like hell and hate that my b'day will be like this. my husband's fam is having a party for me. DON'T WANT TO GO. :( CYNDI

I was still feeling bad a month after my last one - but it turned out I had a raging infection the whole time. So it was hard for me to figure out what was the post-procedure pain and what was from the UTI that I had the whole time.

If it doesn't go away by the end of one week, maybe see if you have a UTI.

Blessings, Lori

I'm sorry to hear about you pain.:( If you doctor doesn't believe you when you tell him you in pain, I'd look for a new one. Sounds like you are suffering enough not to have the added stress of the one who is supposed to help, not believe what you are telling them. I've switched several time myself. Eventually you'll find the doc for you. I went to a doctor for two years for Fibromyalgia, DXD by another doctor in another city, he eventually let me in on a little secret that he'd been keeping from me the whole time. His personal opinion of Fibro is that it is just depression, explained a lot about my treatment options from him. Let's just say I wasn't very happy with him. Anyway my point is that there is a doctor out there that will believe you and that you can get along with. Really sorry about the way he's treating you but eventually you will find a real doctor, one that listens to his patients. Good luck.

When I had my cysto/hydro done, it took a couple of weeks before I was feeling OK. My uro had prescribed Percocet for the pain. Some docs just don't understand that the pain is a very real, visceral thing. And everyone has different pain thresholds too. I would recommend trying another uro. I hope you feel better soon!
