uterine fibroids

Hi, I have not posted for about a year, mainly because I have been feeling so good. I even stopped taking my Elmiron a few months ago. I just watch my diet.
Last Friday, I started having sharp pains in my left lower abdomen that did not go away after several hours. I called my family doctor because I was afraid it was my appendix (the nurse assured me it is on the OTHER side!) They wanted to see me anyhow. To make a long story short, they discovered several uterine fibroids that will probably need surgery. I have an appointment in a couple of weeks with the ob/gyn who diagnosed my IC to see what my options are.
The only test I had when first diagnosed (2 years ago) was the potassium test, which was inconclusive. My diagnosis was made with the cluster of symptoms I had. I am wondering if the fibroids could have been my problem all along, since my IC has had atypical symptoms (more pain than frequency).
Can anyone comment on their experience with uterine fibroids. I would be very grateful.

I also had fibroids, the ic was dx after the fibroids.

I hope the surgery helps. And that it will be the end to your pain. IC or not, I'm glad your symptoms have been at bay with your diet.

I had fibroids, but it was before I had IC --- I had a hysterectomy because of the fibroids.
