Had my cysto/with overdistention and biopsy this morning. The real bad after procedure pain has worn off, but I cannot rest beacuse I constantly have the feeling I have to urinate. Badly. Like its going to burst right out. But I go sit on the toilet and nothing comes out. Then I wait about three hours and finally I get some pee out and then the feeling comes right back. And I can actually feel everything spasming down there. Has anyone ever had this happen too after this procedure? I just feel like this is not normal. Is it? And does it go away? I am very very scared. Any input would help me out greatly. Thank you.

Do you have pain medications to take? This is not unusual right after a hydro --- hopefully you'll feel better in a day or two.
Warm hugs,

Everyone's right... that sensation is not uncommon. If you have pain medication, take that. Try using heat on your lower abdomen also to calm the spasms. In addition, if you have some Pyridium Plus on hand, you can take that... it will ease any burning you have, plus it has an antispasmodic in it to help reduce the spasming you're feeling.
You should feel better in a day or two. If you do not, please ask your doc for a urinalysis to make sure you do not have an infection. Even if they gave you an antibiotic to take, infection is still possible after any type of procedure where something is put into the bladder.
Hope you feel better soon!!!

My urgency and frequency was out of control for almost a week after my hydrodistention...but I never had an infection. Just wanted you to know it can be perfectly normal, but if you are worried...call your dr.
Hope you feel better soon. :grouphug:

I am also thinking of trying a hydro. So you were pretty uncomfortable for about a week? Did you come home with a catheter? I am getting to the end of my rope...

jleblanc -- Yep...tried the hydro...both as a possible treatment and I really wanted a confirmed diagnosis.....neither of which I accomplished through the hydo...but it was worth a shot. I was horribly uncomfortable for a week after my hydro and just uncomfortable for another week. Mind you...that was above what I was already feeling before my hydro. My uro wasn't big into rx'ing pain meds either....he actually thought IC patients didn't need anything more than Tylenol for their pain (yes I dropped him like a hot potato).....so I did a lot of that with no pain meds. I had to take a lot of time off work and I was not a pleasant person to be around for those two weeks. I think I ended up in the ER twice during that time for pain control. It was not a pleasant experience, but I didn't know it wouldn't work and I was willing to try anything. For some people....hydros work great at relieving their symptoms...so don't let my bad experience taint your decision.
Good luck!!

Hi Dani! I'm so sorry your feeling so miserable. I can tell you for sure I know just how you feel with the constant pressure and urge! I'm always telling my Husband, "just imagine feeling you have to pee so bad, and nothing coming out!!!" I'm sure your feeling this from the procedure and the irritation that comes from that surgery. It usually takes me a couple of weeks for that urge to let up some. I hope you feel better soon.
