Hi!
I've seen many posts re: cornsilk tablets, but I wondered if they would help me? I do not have urgency/fequency, but I have constant urethral burning! I have been doing the IC diet, but basically have been living on plain pasta w/ butter!
I am 34 & trying to get pg. Would cornsilk caps be harmful? I would think not because it is basically the cornsilk off corn! I w orry about it being a diuretic though because even though I drink alot of water, my urethra feels better when I don't have to pee as much!
Thanks!
Melinda

Melinda,
My ic presented as urethral burning also. Cornsilk is the only thing that has relieved it. I can actually pee again with out urethral spasms stopping the flow four or five times before it ever gets started. I would bet that it would be as harmful to a pregnancy as eating an ear of corn.

yes, urethral burning is precisely what cornsilk helps with. it is a diuretic though, so drink plenty of water and keep in mind that your frequency will increase.

I have terrible urethra problems, where would you find this "corn silk", is it a tablet ?
I was unable to find it at Whole Foods (clerk said they did not carry it), so I'd also like to know where to find it.

I called my health food store and they are able to get it for me. They did have to order special because not something they sell alot of.
Looking forward to trying. Anything to help the burning !
Are you ordering capsules or tablets or the tea form?

They where only able to get tablets. Would have liked to try the tea too but not available. Thought I'd try this first and if is helps will do some research on where I can get the tea. I'm even sure if I asked the Health Food store would find if for me. Very fortunate to have a great health food store. They are very understanding to what my needs are and are always going the extra mile to try to help me.

I was able to get the corn silk tablets & the tea at my local health food store. I have to say, it did help with the burning, but I did find it to be a diueretic. It was a problem only because the more I peed, the more it burned only because I was constantly passing urine through my tube!!! I actually find it better for me not to take it & hold my urinefor a few hours & then go! I am excited because I am meeting with a naturopath physician tomorrow! I will keep you posted as to what she says!
