Has anyone had a naturalpath etc. do herbal instills? I read an old time herbal book that mentions them and wondered if any natural DR still do them?

I don't know if they do either. If you find someone who does be careful that they are really aware of which herbs can inflame the bladder and cause more problems. We still have doctors telling us to drink cranberry juice and we know that is way off base. :(

I personally have been studying herbs for many years and have lots of books, so that helps. I can think of many healing herbs that could help but want to find a naturalpath that has done them. My old time book "Back to Eden" written in the 20's suggests using slippery elm. I know this is a very healing gentle herb. It is even used to treat ulcers. I know everyone with IC reacts differently though!

I did aloe vera juice instills for quite a while as per Dr. Sherry (forgot name?) in New Orleans who was a guest speaker on the site. Seemed to help for a while but later quit working.

I had also wondered how aloe would do??? YOu would think that over time it might help heals things. I wonder what would happen if they could give us a rescue therapy for pain mixed with some good healing herbs for the long term??? If you could remember that doctors name I would appreciate it! I would like to ask her/ them about herbal instills. Thanks!

You might try the ICN search engine and plug in herbal instills or herbs and see what comes up. Here's the link: http://www.ic-network.com/search.html

Earlier I thought the aloe instillls helped but later they became too painful to continue for me. But the Dr. I learned about it from on the ICN was Dr. McSherry under Meet the Experts under her name alphabetically in case this link doesn't come through:

Where do you/they get the aloe?? All the aloe I can find has citric acid and that would irritate! I wonder if that is what cause your problems?????

Dr. McSherry said just whatever the health food store has. She was so nice. I talked to her first and then my Uro also called her for a phone consult since not much resources for IC of my severity in Montana. The brand I used was dark bottle with like a picture of a sun on it but I don't remember the brand. It's been several years.

All the brands at the health food store have citric acid. Saw the dark one today. COuld definitely be the reason for the problems. I am going to keep looking for a pure one! Thanks!
