Is there anyone out there who does not take perscription meds for IC, but use alternative medications or herbals for IC? If so, would you mind letting me know what you have tried and if it works. I am so tired of taking perscription meds.

Thanks,
Kim

I am trying NAET for eliminating food sensitivities which includes accupressure or accupuncture. So far it has helped me in my search for what foods are irritating me. I am pretty sure chicken and oatmeal chocolate and fresh fruit are main culprits for me. NAET is a long process so I am still on my journey but like you I am repulsed at the idea of having meds in my body 24/7. My meds are at a minimum and I only take Oxybutynin 5 mg only as needed and it lasts for 8 hours. Finding your trigger foods is the answer. Good luck.

I have just seen a Natropath that is going to start me on a strict diet according to my blood group ( we have to work it in with ic friendely foods)
But first I am starting on an clenseing diet first before we will tackel anything else. I will keep everyone posted on my progress.

I know of one women in my support group who used Green Healing Herbs, a product that Dr. Shi in Pennsylvania recommends. She got relief after years of IC. Not that it works for everyone, but I guess it is worth a try but it is expensive. I believe it is akin to Cysta-Q

What about posting under the Alternative Treatment Board? There are many people who use non-medication treatments for their IC. Remember, however, that even if you use a natural product, or nutrition supplement you are still treating yourself medicinally and you should always check with your doctor. You can post this question again at: Alternative Treatments (http://www.ic-network.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=51) or (you probably know this but) check the Alternative Treatments available in the ICN store, there are links to information about them from there: Alternatives and Food Supplements (http://icnshop.com/cgi-bin/ustorekeeper.pl?command=goto&file=Alternatives.html&rtn=jb)

ORRrrrrrr the Patient Handbook here also has numerous ways to cope with IC.........
