After 11 years together and being married for 8, my hubby sent me a dozen long stem roses for Valentine's Day. Shock is the only word to describe it. Never ever have I gotten flowers, chocolates, or even a card. I told him thank you(obviously)and the fact that getting the roses this year will forever find a warm place in my heart because while he is thousands of miles away in a third world country, he took the time to think about me. He may drive me nuts at times, be a complete jerk too, but I still love him, miss him horribly(the body pillows just don't do)with the bed half empty, and at night after Lindsey goes to bed it is the hardest because I am left alone with my pain, my thoughts, and my longing for my soulmate. Although this deployment has been hard, I think it will generate a better relationship for us in the long run. I keep looking at those flowers in awe. I am so proud of him for what he is doing--he is, and will always be my hero.(Next to my Dad).

Hugs,
Barb :woohoo:  :smile tee

I'm so glad you got them. And they probably mean more to you since he is overseas. And not at home with you.
And Barb the next time you talk with him, tell him he is our hero too.......cause he is doing a wonderful job keeping us safe.........we'll rejoice with you guys when he gets to come home. :kissing:

Barb...

I am so happy for you. I agree with Jaime. Tell him "thank you" from me, also.

HINT: Before those roses begin to droop their heads downwards, take them and clip them with clothes pins, leaves and all, by the bottom of the stems to clothes hangers and let them dry upside down. They will keep their shape and color. I do this with the platic "clamp" hangers for slacks and skirts. I use the rod that holds my bathtub shower curtain to hold the hangers while the roses dry. Of course, you will have to be careful if you use that tub. They will dry in about a week and will last forever. You will be able to enjoy them the entire time hubby is gone and after he comes home.
