After months of agony, a false start with a urologist whose license should be questioned, :headbang: and a series of tests with a wonderful Urogynecologist, I am finally officially diagnosed w/IC! I did start on the diet about 6 weeks ago, spent 4 weeks getting better but still feelling uncomfortable and feeling on the cusp of a flareup at any minute, and the past 2 weeks almost back to where I was before the nightmare began. I think that the diet is wonderful - bland is good if it keeps the demons at bay. Eating out is difficult, but cooking at home has become easier as I experiment with new ways of preparing food. The urogyn. today suggested that I try Prelief so that I can occasionally let myself go at a meal so that I don't feel so food deprived. I said "ain't gonna happen", as I DON'T feel deprived. :)
Occasionally I let myself have something that I probably shouldn't and so far have had no flareups from the experimentation, except with caffeine (I am a tea junkie). Even a little chocolate has not been a problem. I do it sparingly, and pay very close attention to my body.
This website has been a blessing. :kissing: The educational materials are helpful, the message boards are encouraging, and I feel so lucky to have stumbled on it when I Googled IC. Thanks to everyone for their words of encouragement and support.
