I already have bad anxiety, and now I get a JURY SUMMONS! Has anyone else been able to serve on a jury without having to leave a jury box to go to the bathroom? How do I handle this??? I called my uro's office, and the receptionist said my dr. doesn't issue dr. statements for jury duty! I am so afraid of being embarrassed by having to explain this to a judge in front of other people, and of having to go to the bathroom during a trial, if I have to serve. Anyone been through this? HELP!

Thanks-
Kathy S.

I would ask to talk to the Dr. directly and if he still won't help you try a family Dr. My Dr. did write an excuse for me last year.

I wouldn't take a receptionist's word for it either. I would ask to speak directly with the doctor.

I agree... I'd talk to the doctor personally if possible. Also, the idea about talking to your general family doc is good too. He/she may be willing to write you the necessary letter. I have not had jury duty since my diagnosis, but I would DEFINITELY ask my docs for a letter because I'm not sure I could sit all day like that either!!!

my doctor wrote me a note.
if your doctor want excuse you from jury duty he can at least write you a note stateing that you must have freg. bathroom breaks because if you whole your urine you could have an accident or cause your self lots of pain.
I.C is covered under the dis. act.
he can give you a slip that states you have i.c and will need these breaks and once the judge sees this note more then likely he will excuse you from being on the jury.
hope this information helps please don't stress about it make an appt to speak with your doctor about this and don't let the person making the appt know what the meeting with your doctor is about its none of her bussiness anyways.
this is something between you and your doctor they can't speak for your doctor because they don't know how bad your i.c is only you and your doctor know this information.
sending you hugs and prayers

What I've done which always works for me is this. Doctors sometimes don't feel like writing letters so I write directly on the form my IC symptoms and the doctor writes on the form, "I concur" and stamps his name and that he is a doctor or signs it.
Another idea for you.
Hope it helps,

I meant to say that the doctor stamps his name which has M.D. after it right on the form and/or signs his name with that information after writing, "I concur".
