I'm struggling to find something for pain control both as a person in recovery and in spite of the fact that although I have no interest in getting high at 18 years sober, but I can't tolerate anything but motrin and a tiny dose of neurontin passing through the bladder without more pain than I already had. I had an addiction counselor suggest suboxene. Never heard of it til today. What's anybody know?

Gosh, wish I could help. I really have never heard of it before. Sorry. :( Are you saying that stronger pain meds cause more discomfort or is your main concern your recovery and not wanting to use something stronger if you can avoid it?

I can't tolerate any meds. passing through. Not even tylenol. I don't have any issues with using pain meds. when warranted. I had to use morphine in the recovery room after back surgery last year and I didn't get high, etc. It went to the source. But when that morphine hit my bladder it was three agonizing days. I just can't tolerate any drugs that have to pass through my bladder.

That stinks. :( I hope maybe this new med will help and not aggravate things.

(I also don't have issues using pain meds when warranted. I had to use Vicodin after both of my c-sections and after my cysto w/ hydro.)
