Anyone else out there have problems taking tricyclics due to side effects? I have tried imipramine 10 mg and found I stayed awake, felt lousy, felt shaky and nervous the next day, and it took till 2 p.m. for it to wear off. Many years ago I tried nortriptyline 5 mg. for headaches and lasted on it for 1 month. It made me very irritable and crabby and I stopped taking it. I know these are a good class of drugs for bladder and nerve pain. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Diana.

Hey, Diana, sorry to hear that you are having problems with the tricyclics. I had a problem tolerating them, too. I tried Elavil, and at first thought it was the best stuff on earth, but soon developed what I think might be an allergy (although my doc says that is impossible) which caused me increasing, horrible bladder pain/irritation every time I took it.

I tried again recently, now that Elmiron has been coating my bladder, hoping I could tolerate it (because it works great on my fibro/arthritis pain) and it set my bladder off again. So, as much as I wish I could take the stuff, it's clear I just can't.

Love, ICY

Hi, Sandra, do you take the oxazepam in addition to a tricyclic, or alone? Just curious. Thanks, Diana.
