Hi Alana,

That's fabulous! Would you be able to post that on the Canada IC boards for us as well. I am sure there are those who also live in Vancouver that would benefit from the IC lecture.

Just to to www.Canadaic.com, and click on the Canada boards.

Thanks
KimP

Hi everyone, I attended the lecture on Saturday together with the other girls from our support group. We met so many wonderful people, and we were able to extend an invitation to all others to join our support group. If anyone else is interested in attending the next session please email me directly at kahlen-welsch@shaw.ca. Dr Parsons is from San Diego and spoke to everyone very candidly about IC and the treatments. Elmiron is a MUST for everyone. Don't drink tons of water either or you dilute the Elmiron so much that it becomes ineffective. The worse your IC is, the longer it will take for the Elmiron to work. I have been on Elmiron for over a year, and I'm in the Moderate to Servere stages so the Elmiron could possibly take a few years to work completely. Be patient is the key, and Elmiron is the answer, and anyone who is in the early stages should immediately go on Emiron. IC is more common than first thought. IC is progressive, and needs to be diagnosed and treated before it reaches the moderate and severe stages so IC patients don't needlessly have to suffer as many of us do. I asked Dr. Parsons if it is possible that the Kidneys are the problem as the kidneys produce the urine and it is the urine that kills the gag. He mentioned that this is being researched and it is more than likely the cause and the bladder is the effect and takes on the problems that we all sufffer from. DSMO is no longer used an an effective treatment. There is a new cocktail formed to give up to 95% relief but you need to self cathederize or go the the Doctors to have this done. The formula can not be purchased anywhere but at the Hospital Pharmacy. It sounds very promising but it must be instilled in the bladder. Self cathederization is not an option for alot of IC patients, and infection is always a worry. I will get the proper formula and post in on the site as soon as I can. Great day for IC! Spread the word about IC, and join a support group in your area! Together we can make a difference!!! BIG HUGS- Sue :woohoo:
