I have had 2 bouts of Asthmatic Bronchitis in the last month. I wonder who got this after IC diagnosis or if you had it before dx? I asked if this meant I have asthma but the doc said no. I'm on antibiotic, prendisone, cough syrup & breathing machine 2 times a day (I had obe in the house from when mom was with us) I quit smoking 2 yrs ago next month, but huby still smokes (in the house) I've just told him he has to go outside. I guess it's another of those "side diseases, (*sigh*)

Sorry you are having a tough time and you are right about the smoking in the house. You may have to also throughly clean the curtains and everything to get it out of the house. Our daughter has asthma and she can't be in a house that has had smoking in it or it sets her off.
I hope you feel better soon.

I have asthma -- I've had it since childhood, but it got real bad a few years ago and I almost died a few times (once Christmas day when I was 20, the other in Oct 2002 when I first moved in with my now-husband, because he had a dog and hadn't cleaned in forever and one of my big triggers was animal dander). Anyway, after the 2002 episode, I found the BEST allergy/asthma guy, who immediately put me on Advair and Singulair, with Combivent inhalers... as well as Nasonex and Clarinex for my nasal allergies. I also carry emergency prednisone and the local ER's number at all times in case I have an attack that doesn't respond to my meds.

I've also gone through nearly 3 years of allergy injections -- which have REALLY helped. I can now live in comfort with a big fluffy kitty and my hubby's doggie, something I thought I'd never be able to do :D

Anyway, I think my allergies and asthma started before my IC, although I can remember episodes of frequency and urgency when I was as young as 8 or 9 years old, so ... maybe they all came around at the same time.

I really hope you feel better soon!!!!!!! If you keep getting this asthmatic bronchitis, I would maybe suggest seeing an allergy/asthma specialist in your area -- despite what your doc says, you may well be developing asthma. I know as mine developed I got asthmatic bronchitis and regular bronchitis more and more often, so in my case it was an early warning sign.

Good luck and FEEL BETTER SOON... I know how much wheezing stinks, believe me... PM me with questions if you like. :grouphug:
