Lately I have been having miragines so often they feel constant. Does anyone know if this and IC may be related or if the migraines are just yet another problem I have? This past week I have hurt so bad I haven't even been able to get in the car and go to the doctor, and they will not call out any pain meds for me. I do have Frova (like Imitrex) here and take that, but I am so miserable!

Hi Jessica migraines and IC seem to be connected. Alot of ICers have problems with migraines including myself. I never had one migraine until I developed IC. I can go months without getting one, then when I do get one it can last for days. I usually have to go and get a shot for it. Not Imitrex shots or nothing like that b/c they dont work. Stadol and something else works great for mine. Is there someone who can take you to the doctor that maybe the only way you can get rid of the migraine. I always heard that you had to take the medicine when you first fill a migraine coming on. I take Amerge for mine got to where the Imitrex pills would not work for me anymore. I hope you start to feel better.

Hi Jessica ...
I took get terrible headaches. I don't know if a "miagrane" but they are bad enough to keep me in bed. My head feels like it is going to explode. I've actually have had one for a good week now. Going to my uro on the 22cd and going to talk to him about it as they are getting worse and more frequent.
I was in a serious car accident which I sustained alot of neck and upper back injuries so always did get headaches. That being said, since being diagnosed with IC they have got worse and keep going in that direction.
To help, I do meditation and breathing techniques that I have learned in my yoga classes. That helps.
Jessica, I get migraines too. Like you are right now, sometimes I can get one that last for what seems like an eternity. Usually end up going to the Urgent care (managed it for 3 years so have an "in") to get meds. As I have had IC for most of my life I am not sure if they are related. I do know I got my first one when I was 14 though. Sending you prayers that you get to feeling better soon.

Thanks to all for reassuring me my body is not totally falling apart! I am calling my Gyno tomorrow to make an appt. And also to make sure I am not pregnant. My husband and I have been trying for seven months and something is wrong with my ovary on the right side all the sudden. I'm not sure if I may be pregnant or if I have yet another cyst. I should have gone ahead and married a Obgyn/Gyno! lol Hopefully he can help with the headache problem too. Thanks again for your replys!

When my IC was at it's worse I could count on a migraine at the beginning of every period. I had others in my life but not so regularly. I think the stress of the pain really brought up the possibility for a migraine in me. I know mine were terrible than and would take days to completely dissapear. The only thing I am sure of is you are not alone! :grouphug:
Have you had any medication changes lately? The worst migraine I have ever had was from taking Ultram. Will NEVER take it again...
That said, my mother, aunt & grandmother all have migraines. I used to have several in the spring, around my period. I've not had a headache in a while, think it might be because of the Elavil I take for the IC. OR maybe it's the healthier lifestyle I've adopted because of the IC (no spicy food, no caffeine, no chocolate, rest when I'm tired instead of pushing myself harder, etc.)
Hope you get this figured out soon! In the meantime, when you feel better & can get out, I really like "Migraine Ice" patches. You can get them over the counter at a drugstore. They're gel patches you can put on your forehead or back of neck. They're soothing and do help a bit.
Wishing you better days soon!

Hi Jessica, yes, I get migraines. In fact, I have one today -- a BAD one. It's taken 2 Maxalt (rizatriptan; like Imitrex too) 10mg caps, 2 of my Percocets for my IC, a Lidoderm patch on the back of my neck, a nap, and alternating a cold compress and a hot pad (one of ibtracy's corn bags :D ) on my neck and head to get to the point of being able to sit up to type this. I woke up with a headache; it got slightly better, then got really bad around midafternoon. I really have no idea what triggered it other than I'm flaring from a recent UTI....
Anyway, I used to take Topamax as a mood stabilizer -- when I was on that I had almost no migraines, because it is now used as a migraine preventative drug, where you take some every day. If you're having very frequent migraines, it might be worth asking your doc about this drug... I've since changed meds because the mood stabilizing dose, which is much higher than the migraine prophylaxis dose, was very sedating and made me dizzy and have "pins and needles" in my hands and feet, but at the lower doses it was fine and really did keep my migraines away.

I have had migraines forever it seems like and still get them since I've diagnosed iwth IC. I take Imitrex as soon as I feel one coming on and an ice pack really helps me. I also get migraines from certain medications too. Since you've had it for so long you will probably need a shot to get rid of it.
Hope you feel better soon!

Thank you to everyone for your advice! I am so sorry to hear how many people feel this way too. The last two days, I have been migraine free, but I am not getting to excited yet. I will be hoping and praying for all of us to have better, less pain free days. Thank you all again!

I get migraines a couple times a week.... I take excedrin migraine but I do have a prescription for Imitrex which I don't really want to fill because I'm on tons of prescription meds... My chiropracter gave me this little bottle filled with essential oils etc....that really help relieve my migraines... If anyone is interested in the brand just private message me... it's not expensive and can be a real life saver when my migraines are really bad! :)

Dawn,
I was wondering if you take any routine analgesics, like ibuprofen, tylenol, or pain meds? Sometimes they can cause rebound migraines. I recently got into trouble from the 1-2 Vicodin per day that I took. I was having constant migraines. My doctor told me to take one Frova every night and to stop the Vicodin. I struggled with it but found that I did feel better doing this. Good luck!

I do take advil like it is candy. I also take Vicodin, but it is usually not on a regular basis. Recently my Dr increased my dosage of Lexapro for 10mg/day to 20mg/day and I think it may have caused the migraines. My doc gave me some frova to take and it helps so much. Thank you for your information. Hoping and praying for pain-free days for us all!
