View Full Version : Peanut Butter was a BAD move!

I had a late lunch today and I didn't have much around the house to eat because I'm in the process of moving. So I made myself a peanut butter sandwich. I thought "oh well, it's just one sandwich" and I took 2 Prelief.
Wow, what a mistake. After two days of being pain-free, I'm in a major flare! Yes, I know...peanuts are on the forbidden food list. I thought I'd get away with it just this once. I was WRONG! Ouch! I guess I'll add peanut butter to the list of things I'll never eat again.
Does anyone else feel like they're just eating to live, instead of really enjoying their food?
I am sorry you had a problem. One thing to remember the Prelief helps with the acid in food. I don't think it would help anything in peanut butter. The diet is so individual that all you can do is try it.
It takes awhile to get your treatment working sometimes and the diet also takes a bit to get used to, most of us get there though.

I think it might be better if I didn't enjoy food so much! Hopefully if you drink lots of water your flare will go away soon. And now you know that peanuts aren't a good choice for you!
Warm hugs,

if you dont have high blood pressure try a tsp of baking soda to an eight oz glass of water and drink fast the taste is nasty but it normally does the trick.

Oh peanut butter. I miss it SOOOOOOOOOOOOo much. I could grab a spoon and sit with the jar and just eat. A no no for me too, even with Prelief.

You took the words right out of my mouth! Sometimes that is exactly how I feel, I'm eating to live...which in the healthy community is how we are supposed to feel instead of using for everything else, lol. Bah humbug!!! I love peanut butter, I agree with Jen, I could just sit and eat it with a sppon, liked it even more when I discovered natural peanut butter by Smuckers, yum, not as sweet...oh Thai peanut sauce...yum again. Sorry you got bitten by the peanut butter, hope you enjoyed it at least when you ate it, it would suck to have pain for no good reason, like we do sometimes!! LOL Feel better soon...you'll always have the memory of peanut butter, IC can't take that away from you!! (yeesh, I sound like I am talking about a lost love here! LOL) ;)
Hugs,
Tracey :)

Yes! Just eating to live here. With IBS, IC, GERD, and Crohns all telling me what I can't eat I just eat to live. I keep searching and searching for food that I can enjoy and keep trying treatments that allow me to have some of the less problem foods for me. I do find a few answers sometimes. So things do improve slowly for me. Hopefully you will find more things you can eat that you enjoy too!

I found that almond butter is just as good if not better than peanut butter. You can ever throw some blueberries on top for that p.b. and jam flavor.

Also, if you have a Trader Joes nearby, try their sunflower seed butter. Really creamy and delicious.

I"m lucky because I can still eat peanut butter. I'm thankful for that because it is one of my favorites.

I could have lived on Peanut Butter and Jelly! This is actually my favorite food! I am 34 and still would take one occasionally to work. Not any more! I felt like giving up when I realized it was the Peanut Butter hurting me one day. I had taken away everything else, what was left? I am still hoping it was the Grape jelly. I'm going to try Blueberry jam.
Does anything help to regain the Peanut Butter into our lives????
Yes, I do feel like I'm eating to live and not enjoying food anymore. I was on weight watchers for 1.5 years and it was easier than this! Atleast if you cheat on WW you aren't in pain for hours!!! I want to sit down and cry when people order out for lunch or my husband wants to take me out to eat. I get physically ill worrying about what I CAN eat off the menu.
Will we ever be able to eat our favorite foods again? My family loves Italian and Mexican. I still make it for them, then sit down and eat a bowl of cereal. This really Sucks!
