Hi everyone-me again!

Once again I need your help/thoughts. In December I had a kidney infection and took Cipro with no problems. Well, as I posted last week, I have visible blood on the toilet paper. Went to my uro and he got me to do a urine test and put me on Cipro again (still don't have the test results back yet)
The first day that I took Cipro was fine, but yesterday and today when I took it, about one hour later I have such excruitiating burn in my bladder. I think that I remember reading here that antibiotics caused some of us to flare. I haven't eaten anything to cause this extraordinary pain. Any thought?

Hi Alana,
Have you called back the office to see what the results are? I would give them a call and let them know whats going on. Hope your feeling better,
Huggs,
Kelly

Antibiotics never brought me much relief. Yes, they killed the infection, but the burning always persisted. I can never tell when it is IC or an infection, so I always end up submitting urine samples for urine analysis. Sometimes the samples are positive for infection, sometimes not.

Could you have a Yeast Infection??? Antibiotics often cause yeast infections and when I have one I burn and I hardly ever do otherwise. Yeast infections also caue me to flare in other ways. If Cipro hasn't hurt you in the past I would definatly look into other reasons for your symptoms. The majority of us are helped by antibiotics ....only a few have difficulty with them. I hope you find the answer and feel better soon! :grouphug:

Hi, I took Cipro for 2 months as a long-term therapy. It has worked, however, I supplemented it with other things that probably goes into play for the remission, but as I took the Cipro, my bladder burned as well. Part of the reasonf or that could be that the bladder is already irritated and burnign so it doesn't take much, and/or that the dosage of the cipro is too high for you. I took 500mg twice a day, and when I reduced it to 250 twice a day the burning reduced. I continued to take it despite the burning because I knew the results would be good in the long run, and that I could rebuild my bladder wall after the antibiotics.
