How Long Off Medication Before TTC?

For those of you who went off your medications prior to trying to conceive, what meds were you on and how long did you stay off your meds before you started trying? (I'm especially interested in when/if you stopped Elmiron and Atarax.)

I was on Elmiron 400 mg daily, Elavil 10 mg daily, and Urised as needed. I discussed with my uro and OB going off these meds as soon as I had a positive pregnancy test, as I did not want to go off of them and then have it take months to get pregnant. My uro and OB were okay with this. I did an early pregnancy test and when it was positive, I quit all meds.

I have to be honest, after the Elmiron wore off (it seemed like it took about 2 weeks), I could definitely tell it had been helping. My main IC issues are pain, so I definitely felt an increase in this for the first 14 weeks or so. Now I am about 19 weeks and am feeling much better. I doubt I will have a full remission, but if I can just make it 20 more weeks.... :-) Now that I am out of the first trimester, my OB ok'ed Pyridium type pain medication, so I have that as a backup but try and ride it out without. Prelief and really watching my diet has helped.

I just had my ultrasound at 19 weeks and everything looked fine. I am just going to wait and see how I feel at the end and after birth before I decide if I want to forego breastfeeding and immediately go back on my meds.

I was on 600mg of elmiron and 10mg of elivil and prosed as needed. I stopped taking them as soon as we ttc. thankfully that same month we became pregnant. My uro and I have discussed elmiron instills that would be safe since it is injected right into the bladder but at this point I have decided to be drug free. My ob tells what I can take for my headaches but I would rather suffer then potienal harm the baby.

My doc had me go off Elavil for 30 days prior to trying to concieve. He still allowed me to take Vicodin while trying in small amounts. I was surprised to find the the Elavil that I'd been on for 7 years made no difference when I went off it. It was not making any difference as I thought it was.

Luckily I got pregnant right away and am now at 7 weeks. My doctor said that I can still take small amount of Vicodin because it doesn't cause birth defects like Elavil can but I have toughed it out and only took a vicodin one night last week when I was just dying. Even though he said it's okay to take the pain meds I want to only use them in absolute dire need.
