bc/bs for my unit.

i sent it back friday.

can anyone give me a name of an if unit company? thx...

i know there is empi in mn.

anyone have good luck with any other interferential stimulator home unit/product?

i had a unit from a company in virginia. they were block-headed for not telling me they didn't take any bc/bs from any state. great unit, but it costs 3 grand.

i was upset because they could have given me all the paperwork up front and i would have sent it in under non-network thru bc/bs, but they slow-teacked on me.

if you cannot name a company on this forum, you can email at shennap@yahoo.com or pm me.

thanks for any information...

I got mine through www.wisdomking.com They are located in California. If insurance won't pay for it theirs are still lower then $100.00. They have everything you need to go with the tens unit too. Hope this helped.

Tens therapy is wearing the tens unit for the pain. I wear mine 24/7 for 4 years now. Have it either on the lower part of my stomach or right on the bladder. It helps me with the pain a lot. I never would be able to sleep without it. Even if I take pills for sleeping.

flarin-up vicky.

don't know what tens stand for????

i finally am going to get a new e-stim unit from empi in mn.
my bc/bs is going to pay 80%. yeeee...

the e-stim has tens and interferential capabilities, i think.

it is used for muscle spasms and pain, etc.

my unit is going to be about $1300, then i pay 20%.

tens units are Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulators I just got mine but I had to get it through a medical supply place that my insurance company says. It worked out good for me I get my catheters there . Mine helped yesterday. I really was amazed I took it off and had rto put it right back on. I took it off before I went to bed and sleep all night. So far so good.

Hey, that's great Kelly. :woohoo: I was wondering if you had it yet. You know, that's the same way it happened with me too but after I put it back on I kept it on. Hope it keeps helping you. :)

I am finding its better if I keep it on all the time. Its hard to do while I am work but other than that its attached to my hip for now.

With time I know it got to where I forgot I even had it on. Kept setting it on the bed while getting dressed and walked away without clipping it back on. Did that a few times in the doc's office too. They told me where I got it, it will take a licking and keep on ticking as long as I didn't drop it in the toilet. :biglaugh: So far I haven't. Have almost fallen into the toilet while getting up at night to pee. That sure wakes you up in a hurry. Oh , and walked into the door once too. :loco:

I just had a tens unit ordered for me, and it is something I have only dealt with in orthopedics. Where exactly do the electrodes go? What does it feel like? Does it help with pain, or just urinary frequency/urgency? Thanks in advance for you help. You are all  s in my book.

Hugs,
Barb

I put the electrodes on the lower abdomen and over the bladder. Have to rotate them too. You can set it so you feel it vibrating but mine I set at "3". I can't feel it unless the pain is really bad. Then I turn it up so I can feel it. For me it helps with just the pain.

i put two in front on my abs and two on my back under my kidneys. i also put them lower or higher depending where i think i need them.
you just cannot put them on your spine or your head. probably not on your heart, either. your physical therapist can tell you more.
it helps with pain, spasms, and frequency, and urgency.
i don't drink as much water when i wear it, so i then don't go to the :toilet: as much. mine has 2 rechargable batteries. it has tens and interferential stimulator capabilities. it pulsates electrical pulses to try and free up the spasms and pain. i love it.

my legs still get numb if i don't go to the :toilet:, though.

My TENS unit has four electrode pads. Sometimes I use two pads, and I put them just over my bladder, or on my lower back, depending on which site has more pain that particular day. Sometimes, when I'm either experiencing or even EXPECTING a lot of pain (like if we are going on a long car trip) I use all four electrodes. I have two placements I use... one has two electrodes on the bladder and two on the back, and the other placement, which really helps me with frequency when on a car trip, is two over the bladder, and two down on the lowest part of my bum -- almost on the perineal area, but on the butt cheeks between my legs. This is one my physical therapist recommended.

The only thing you gotta watch for when using this butt cheek placement, I've found, is where the wires are and how well the electrodes are stuck on when you go pee -- I lost an electrode because it fell into a toilet in a gas station on a trip across the state to see my mother in law :biglaugh: It just fell in. Whoops. I didn't wanna get it out either so I just unplugged and left it there. :shake: Bet the next person who used that toilet was really confused, huh? :)

Anyway, I got my unit from a supply company connected to the hospital my insurance uses (the Methodist system here in Memphis). It's Methodist Alliance Home Health... they delivered it to my house and everything. It's a rent-to-own kind of thing -- my insurance pays 90%, I pay 10%, so my portion is like $3 a month. After just a couple more months I will own the thing, which is good b/c I use it a lot. :)

I found when I used the tens on my lower back it was like shooting the bladder. Made the pain much worse. Wonder if that happens to anyone else? :dizzy: Have a question. Is a e-stim a better tens unit or something else?

Kelly does putting it on the inner thigh help with the bladder pain or do you have leg pain too?
