Ok- it's official, I'm nuts. Ask my 15 year old son, he'll verify...

On the news tonight, there was a story about "E.M.H.E." re-doing a house here in the East Valley. Well, that just happens to be my favorite show at the moment, so my ears pricked right up. :)

The reporter said that they wouldn't say exactly where it was being filmed, for fear of all of Phoenix showing up, but then they made the mistake on interviewing a neighbor and giving HER name. Didn't take me but a second...

I got on the county assesors website, found the neighbors address, and headed out. I drug my son with me, as my hubby is out of town, lucky man.

We drove right to the spot, and there they all were... Nothing is happening until tomorrow and I'll be there with bells on! I'm not a "star chaser"- but I'd love to see the demolition part of the filming... that's the best part for me. That and the family coming home. I may go for that too, but by next week, it'll be a madhouse. Tonight there were only three other cars there... but they do have a "spectator spot" set up...

Anyway, just thought it was cool. And if I just happen to run off with Ty Pennington, you'll be sure to let my hubby know where I went, won't you?

Missy,

LOL I think you might have to fight a few women here for Ty! :biglaugh: I've been a fan since Trading Spaces...but you can have him :D

I love EMHE...just always have to have a box of tissues with me when I'm watching! Hey you should get to the crowds real early and hold up a big sign that says "Interstitial Cystitis patient? Check out http://www.ic-network.com" that'll get the word out there LOL! And put your name on it so we all can see you :D Seriously though, I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for this episode.

Hugs,
Jess

That is my favorite TV show and I am so jealous. Pity Ty has a long term girlfriend of like 10 years. Did you know he is 38?

He's 38??!! Wow, he does not look it!! I knew he had a long time g/f, had no idea he was 38. He looks good for his age! (nothing wrong with 38, just thought he was in his late 20's)

Ok folks... here are the pics from day one. I didn't get pics of the actual demolition, couldn't get close enough. And- no Ty! Well, I got one of the van he was in as he was leaving... headed for Tuscon. I'll post more as the week progresses.

Here's the link to the photos...

And here's the story for the show...
________________________________________

When doctors found a softball-size tumor in one of Kassandra Okvath's kidneys a year and a half ago, getting better wasn't her top concern. Sprucing up the drab, lifeless decor of the Tucson hospital where she was being treated was a bigger issue in the 8-year-old Gilbert girl's mind.

Executives for the reality show, touched by her Selflessness, plan to fulfill her wish, and then some. A production crew came to the Okvath family's home near Guadalupe and Higley roads Friday morning, led by Ty Pennington, one of the show's most-popular cast members.
Pennington told the family members he needed their help to remodel the children's hospital floor of University Medical Center.

But he was only telling half the story.

While they're gone, a construction crew will work around the clock to convert their single-story 1,800-square-foot home into a roomier 5,300-square-foot abode.

"This will be a first for us, remaking two buildings at the same time," said Melissa Armstrong, a spokeswoman for the show. "But we're up to the challenge."

Demolition of the Okvath's house begins Sunday, said Scott Holland, vice president for sales and marketing for Taylor Woodrow Homes.. Construction will continue until Friday. About 1,000 people, including subcontractors, will work around the clock on the Okvaths' home.

Under normal circumstances, a project of this kind would be "very near impossible" to complete, Holland said. Kassandra's resolve and concern for others proved to Holland the task is worth it.

"Here, this little girl is fighting her life and all she can do is think about other people," he said. "Sure it's tough to build something so fast . . . but it's just going to be done. We're going to do it."

Are we bawling yet? The show airs March 20th.

OMG, Ty is in YOUR neighbourhood. Hold him hostage, take him, lock him in the basement ! He makes me melt.

Been a huge fan since Trading Spaces and a weekly fan of his new program. I don't think I have watched an episode yet where I didn't cry in the end. They do such wonderful things for such deserving people.

I love TY and love this show! They were here in my area a few months ago. About a 20 minute drive. Remember the show about the girl who was allergic to sunlight??? That was in Penngrove which is just south of Santa Rosa. I kicked myself for not going out and watching. Take LOTS of pictures!!!!!! and we'll live vicariously through you! He's a hunk!

Yes"Angel"- Ty is in Tucson until Thursday... at the hospital... go get him girl! But- leave just a little for me? And- should you happen to keel over from excitement, the emergency room is right there! Take it easy on the poor guy- he has serious work to do.

Jill- my Gramma lived in Santa Rosa! I spent many wonderful summers there on her farm. I think it was on "Ludwig Lane"- I just remember it was down the street from an appaloosa horse farm where I learned to ride...

Anyway, I'll keep the photo album updated... I'm half tempted to head back out there now, but it's a 50 mile round trip for me, and no potties... maybe I'll wait until morning. The roof should be on by then.

I just think it's SOOO cool that the family is completely clueless at this point. Word is that they're going to fill them in on Wednesday.

Well, it's over... WAH!!!!!! Of course, the actual show is on March 13 but I feel such a letdown... I know this sounds wacky, but the energy that surrounded the house and the "set" was amazing! Total strangers coming together for a family they'd never met. I could go on for days, I won't. ;)

Check out the site, the new pics are up. Of course, I was literally first in line at the fence, You'll see me in the "our gang" photo, pink sweatshirt... but at the last minute all the VIP's moved in front of us.

After 6 hours standing in the rain, I finally had to give it up. BUT! I saw the family before anyone else did... Just as I was pulling out, here comes a limo around the corner. I followed it , (I have no life, remember?) and first it stopped to air the tires (why?) and then on to the house. I wasn't even sure it was them, until they made the turn for the house.

Then today the local stations carried it live, and when the limo pulled up, the plates matched my pictures. So there VIP's! :woohoo:

Mom almost fell when she saw the house, and Cassandra, the daughter just kept laughing and hugging her brothers and sisters. You have to watch the show... I'll provide the tissues!

Missy

Oh and did I mention, I TOUCHED TY! And Paul, and Preston... Got pics with Preston, but the gal hasn't sent them to me yet.
