I know this sound ridiculous, but this is the first time I have been really late for my period. I have been late before but not like this. I am not pregnant, considering I havent had sex in over a month, and I even took a pregnancy test, just in case maybe we did it once and I forgot, sounds crazy, but I have been alittle stressed out lately, due to my dads illness. I am 40, my mom said maybe I am starting my changes. I have been having pain the last month in my hip/pelvic/lower back and in my butt cheek. I know I have pelvic floor issues. I am wondering if it is the stress maybe, i dont know. I havd a polyp removed 3 months ago from my uterus, I am suppose to go back for another vaginal ultrasound which I will schedule. I feel like I am gonna get it, my breasts are sore, which partly due to some caffiene intake the last month, which I usually never touch. Maybe I am stressing to much-jojo

JoJo,

Stress is a big cause for a missed period. Do you mind my asking how late you are? This could also be menopause though, too. My mom started missing her periods around age 38. I think you should give your ob/gyn a call and discuss this with him...but I know that stress can really delay your period--and with all that's going on with your family, I know you are stressed to the max.

Hugs,
Jess

you body for some reason may think your preg. causing a false preg. reaction.
Call your gyn to be checked to make sure there isn't nothing serious going on its most likely stress related but it never hurts to be safe rather then sorry.
God Luck hon i hope all truns out well.

I missed last mths peroid because of the b.c pills i'm on well i got freaked out and stopped taking them in fear that i was preg. took a preg test it came out neg.
the next day (friday) i started flooding like a river and in a lot of pain because of it.
and my surgery is tuesday (just great) i really messed up i'm doubleing up on the b.c pills now to try to get it to slow down or stop i really don't want to go to surgery and two doctor having to mess down there with me bleeding :(

At 40 it could be the beginning of the wonderful world of menopause! I do agree a call to your doctor would be a good idea.

Rhonda,

Be careful with the Doubling Up theory. I tried that once, and it actually made my period much heavier, and a lot worse. I have dysfunctional periods, and birth control did not make things easier as I had hoped. What did end up helping me was Ibuprofin--it slows down the bleeding. I have an RX'd amount for just my flow days. I went from bleeding 7-14 days, down to 5. After countless amounts of different birth controls, this actually helped! My gyn was a lifesaver.

Anyway, just be careful with doubling up...uck I had such a miserable experience. Though I know every body is different, and it might help you. Good luck, I hope your period goes away soon!!

P.S. Last month I was 11 days late. When my period finally came, it was one of the most painful ones I had had in years. I can really relate to late period and pain!!

Lots of things could be the cause here. I'd go into your doctor just to make sure nothing serious.

I haven't had a period in 14 or so years and I'm 39. I have been checked, checked and re checked and all is OK. I still worry about it as I can't see where healthy. But the doctors all say OK.

the last time my peroid started when it wasn't suppose to the doctor told me to take two at a time until it stopped.
I really can't tell if its helping this time or not it was my dumb butt who went off the b.c pill because i was afraid i may be preg., but I wasn't should have knew that since i had a tubeable in 1998 but i have heard of people getting preg. with a tubeable because they came up tied. thanks for your advice.
