Anyone that Elmiron has not helped? (9 mos.here and no relief)

I have been on it for 9 months and have no side effects, but it also is not making any difference either....anyone else not getting any results from it? I was told 3 months is the norm, at the latest by 9-12.What happens if I hit a yr and it is not doing anything? Does that mean it never will?? I hate to keep taking a drug and paying for it if it is not gonna help me, or I am not gonna respond to it. :headbang:

At six months with no apparent effects, I began to suspect I was just flushing my money down the toilet, and would go down as one of those Elmiron didn't help. I said I'll try it for one full year. It was around eight months that it dawned on me I was feeling quite a bit better. Perhaps you'll be a 'late-bloomer' like me?

I started on Elmiron in April. I just started feeling better on it around December. (8 months). I also take atarax and celebrex and watch my diet. I believe the combination helps, but I have more days that are better than I used to. I believe it has made a difference. liz

Char*An...ask your uro to instill the Elmiron directly into your bladder,,and of course continue taking your pills daily..I did this for 4 months! A miricle! My uro also has me eating 1/4 - 1/3 cup of aloe vera gel every day...spread over 3 doses...so far, so good..

Took Elmiron for 3 years..was wonderful, went into remission and then had a dumb uro who decided I didn't need it any longer. Went back on in July-3 x's a day..but this time not helping. So I feel your pain! Talk to your uro and she what he/she says..I agree with IMUSTPEE-see if they will install directly into bladder. Good luck!

I was on Elmiron for 5 months and my uro took me off because of the side effects. I experienced I'd say 90% of them and bad. During the 5 months I was on it, it didn't appear to be helping the IC at all. Who knows how I would have reacted if on longer. The side effects where just to unbearable.

I have heard so many successful storied that Elmiron have helped though.

I had to get off it because of bad stomach problems. It was not worth it to have pain like that and the IC. So I am trying Corn Silk, someone mentioned, also am on Prosed (like pyridium), diet, heat or ice or both, and get instills once a week. That helps a lot. Someone here said something about Aloe Vera jell, you mean the stuff you use on your skin? Or is there a kind of a jelly you can eat? Curious.

I have been on Elmiron and Atarax since mid Sept. I even had the elmiron instills 3x a week for 2 weeks. It has not helped at all. I tried Sanctura, Ditropan, nothing. Tried a week of Detrol, it made me WORSE! I'm in pain all the time. My uro said that if I wasn't better by Feb, it was time to go back to the hydro. I go to the dr this week. I have had no bad side effects from Elmiron either. I was so hoping it would help!
