i'm deathly afraid of bees and wasps.

and scorpions but that's just because they show up in the straaaangest places in arizona.

nothing else bothers me. i consider things like snakes and spiders to be good pets.

but bees and wasps... not only can they sting you but they FLY!

For some reason I can't open those crescent roll containers; the ones that go POP when you open them. (Isn't that wierd?) I always have someone open them for me. I also don't like balloons and hate when they pop. I must have had a bad scare when I was little. I don't have a problem with fireworks though.

I have problems with stairs, especially at stadiums. I can get up but can't get down without a rail. Escalators are a big problems for me. I also have a fear of deep water; can't swim; failed novice classes at the YWCA years ago. lol

I'd have to say grizzly bear, mountain lions, and wasps/hornets.

I am severely arachniphobic (spiders) I have even been hypnotized several times and the only thing that changed was that now I can squash the little ones. But if they are too much bigger than a quarter forget it.

I have a fear of heights and elevators -- not those things in and of themselves, but of falling.

I'm with you on the crescent or refrigerated biscuit cans. I always have my husband open them and I go across the room and cover my ears! LOL

My biggest fear, though, is...plants, especially weeds and vines. Wierd, huh? I have found that as long as I can't feel them, it's not as bad. I actually was able to weed my flower garden this summer as long as I wore gloves. I will say I got tangled in seaweed when I was little and visiting the ocean, but it wasn't near being life threatening. That's just the only thing I can figure is maybe where it came from... I may be a little :loco: LOL

Claustrophobia and the dark. Snakes and other animals I am ok with (own one).

well i have a plant fear that i forgot to mention-- jumping cholla! they're a kind of cactus that actively sticks its spines into you. the worst is when they've left spines all over the ground and you just happen to be wearing sandals... owie!

but as far as i know, they're the only plant that has ever been actively malicious toward me. :flower:

Sharks! I love the water but always feel edgy at the beach.
I had a past life regression once and had the memory of being killed by a shark. It was very real and I could discribe the animal so well that I know it was a grey nurse.
It was supposed to help but I still would rather go to the swimming pool.:(

Funny-I thought I was the only one with the crescent roll issue!
My phobia- spiders, but only if they're in my bedroom. I worry I'll wake up with it crawling on me.

Rosalie-funny story-my girlfriend likes sharks too but is afraid of them swimming up on her at the beach. Well, here in Clearwater there are signs in the water that says no swimming beyond this point. One day she pointed out this sign and wondered why. I told her because on the other side there were sharks and that the other side of the sign said "no sharks beyond this point". She was like..."Cool". Her 12 year old daughter and I were like....ummm...kim...duh... Anyways, thought you might get a chuckle outta that.

Rhea, very funny indeed. Suppose that why sharks swim in schools... to learn to read the beach signs!

LOL I have a little list here...I'm such a scaredy-cat!

Snakes for sure...I can't even see them on t.v. I get way too freaked
Heights--like Poetgirl said, it's the fear of falling
For the longest time, I was afraid of the dark, but I'm not anymore. (Comes from living in a haunted house--I kid you not, I was the biggest skeptic till we owned a very old resort!)

I guess that's actually it. Well, I was afraid of Freddy Kreuger movies and used to get nightmares, but my therapist had an intersting way of getting rid of the nightmares...picture how I would kill Freddy if he showed up in my dreams, before I went to bid. Pick a weapon, and do him in. I know it's silly, but my sister used to make me watch those stupid movies when I was little, and they scared me so much back then...guess it stuck till recently.

Aren't phobias a strange thing?? Oh, and I hate one on one conversations, face to face, with new people. I can talk in front of a crowd, no problem, but one on one gets me.

Done babbling now. :) Hey, you asked!

I'm soo terrified of tsunamis!! I know you guys are probably thinking I'm saying this because of what's recently happened, but NO!!!! I was terrified way before that happened,I have nightmares almost all the time about tsunamis and tornados!! I fear more tsunamis than tornados because at least theres a fair warning and you can get away from the tornado but good luck trying to get away from the ocean!!! Seriously, for a looong time I avoide the beach,I was soo scared to go to the beach!!I'm also scared of rollercoasters!!Anything that goes super fast,Forget it!! I honestly think if I ever tried to overcome my fears and got on one,I seriously would have a heart attack or go into shock or something because my heart wouldn't be able to handle the fear!!!

Jen-

I came in to post my "Phobia" and you did it for me! :) If I can't see the bottom, I won't go in past my waist. I think mine comes from almost drowning in the ocean when I was three... if a bystander hadn't seen me go under, I would have been a goner. I don't even remember it, blocking maybe  , but it's amazing what the subconcious mind can keep.

Then when I was about 30 I fell off the front of our boat, and it went over the top of me. I was under water for less than a minute, but that's all it took to cement the fear of the water.

Ironically, That day I had my Newfie dog with me. My dad said that the minute she saw me go off the front, she went off the back and tried to find me. I was above water before she got to me, but she wouldn't let me get away from her! I grabbed her tail, and we swam to the dock together... go Thai Thai. I didn't need "saving" by that point, but try convincing HER of that! She was pretty proud of herself, and from that day on, even the dog "haters" in the family thought Thai ruled the world. We'd never done water training with her, guess she was going on instinct.

My phobias are:

1) flying

2) driving over long bridges or through long tunnels (I'm okay as a passenger in these situations, generally, which is weird due to 4) below!

3) being in any vehicle on icy roads

4) being a passenger in a car (this varies to some extent with who's driving!)

5) trying new medications (not great for someone with all the health problems I have!)

It's definitely a challenge for me to travel very much! These things have definitely worsened with age for me, and the same is true for my two older sisters. I'm sure it's a genetic thing with us!

I have problems with escalators and stairs -especially going down. Also with roaches, which thankfully I don't have in my house, but I do have to watch out for rats - we live out in the country so I sometimes see them. (I'm thinking of getting a cat, but I would have to wait till summer time when someone is home so my dog won't bother it, she doesn't put up with any type of animal so if we got one now, I don't know who would or wouldn't survive!!)
