Well I had my surgery this afternoon for the permanent interstim...Things so far are going good, just a real sore bottom...I am really glad that I decided to go with this surgery cause the interstim trial worked so good besides the obvious discomfort I felt..I am gonna take it easy for while and just take things day to day till I feel better..I'll keep u informed...Gonna go lay down cause I am wiped out...

Wishing you a speedy recovery!
I had the interstim implant last year and consider it a success. Just listen to your body and rest if you are tired....hugs, tac

I had my permanent one implanted two wks. ago today. I am still very tender and sore where the incision is. I also have a lump in my butt--my doctor said that it is very important to take it easy for a while because the healing procees is an important one. Your body has to form scar tissue around the implant and this can take a while. I find myself walking by a mirror and checking from every angle to see if you can actually see my lump--my husband tells me that I am worrying too much about it but I have a feeling that it is always going to be there!!! I don't have any regrets doing the innerstem====so far so good----it has helped tremendously with urgency, spasms and my pain somewhat. Even though it has only been 2 wks. I am so glad that I did it!!! Glad to hear eveyone is doing good!!!!

Tami,
Great news!
Hopefully you will feel better each day...
I still have a lump on my tailbone and a longer lump underneath the skin where the interstim unit is. The only problem I am experiencing is that I have to have my unit reprogrammed about every 3 months. I have not lost or gained any weight and I am not retaining fluid....I don't know of anyone else that has to be reprogrammed this frequently. I also have problems with sitting for a long period of time on a hard surface. My bottom is not that fatty. The interstim is just below my left hip bone so I can't sit and lean on that side. I wish you a speedy recovery!
hugs...tac

If mine quit working today I would replace it tomarrow. i have had such a life change in the past 8 weeks. I really wish I would have give in sooner and had it done. There have been so many advances and better trained physicians that this procedure isn't near the scary story it used to be, even the past 6 months the training of better physicians to do this makes al the difference in how you do with it. I think checking your Dr success rate and failure are really important. My Dr is having such luck with them that he is booked up months in advance for them. The last I knew his only failure was a patient error not physician.

I'm not Leslie but, for me I wore jogging suits until the permanent implant because of the incisions they have to make and jeans would rub. For you guys who had your implant implanted at your hip or tail mine was implanted on my love handles above the hip bones I'm so glad they didnt put it next to my butt becauese its more comfortable where its at because its been to weeks and I can wear my size 8 jeans so that tells you that its better where its at for me. For me leaning back was a problem for a while but, now I'm fine and not that sore. I guess every doctor is different.

no he didn't I was new to all this and I didn't know where he was going to put it but I'm glad he put it there because its less sore than your bottom as I would imagine because you have to sit on that. Maybe you can ask him before the surgery and see the only thing I didnt like was trying to lean back and drive but, its going on 2weeks and I can lean back on anything now but, different doctors put it in different places. So dont be scared think positive that whats got me through this whole thing and hopefully you'll have some much needed help for a couple of days and get plenty of rest.

I am having my interstim trial on March 4 (Friday). I am scared to death! I have no idea what to expect. I am in nursing school and I am trying to get a sense of how long I will be down from the test and that actual implantation (if things go well). Any info would be great. Did you have a lot of pain? Does walking hurt? I have to be on my feet a lot in clinicals. I know things are different for everyone, but I feel completely clueless. ANy help is appreciated! Please pray for me friday. Thank you!

I won't lie you will be sore for a few days but, personally I was back to work in several days for the trial period don't be scared its not that bad . But the permanant is a little different and I think a little tougher I was off of work for 1 week and now my incision is bleeding and not doing so well I think I went back to work sooner but also, I have a husband and 3 kids to take care of and a house and dog and noone to help either so thats probably alot to do with it take my advice and take it easy for several weeks after the next surgery if this works for you.
