We....uhhhhhh... have a new critter. Sort of. I live on a mountain and have 250 acres of forest. Our new cat is a BOBCAT!! I've seen tracks lately, and have seen a lot more rabbits than normal, and now I've seen the BOBCAT!!! My dogs are not happy either. I'm scared. My hubby says it won't attack us, but I say there's a first time for everything. It was in my front yard!!!!!!! :help: :help: :help:

Well nornally it should be more afraid of you than you of it.....but just be careful....if its hungry or rabid.....but I'd bet on what hubby said.....plus you love in such a wide open space, he's got room to go roam elsewhere....
(((((((((michelle))))))))))) I wouldn't worry too much :)

Michelle-
Be careful...
My son lives in Northern Idaho, right on the Washington border. He's an avid hunter, and was out with a friend one day and they literally wandered into Washington and didn't realize it. My son heard something behind him and turned, just as a bobcat came out onto the trail behind them. The boys froze, and the cat started coming towards them. My son fired into the air, hoping to scare it away, and unfortunately it did the opposite. Thank the Lord that Jeff is an excellent shot, as the next one took the cat out, in mid "leap". Jeff was heartbroken, as he NEVER kills anything he can't eat. But- it was him or the cat.
They had to contact F&G, and could have been in trouble... two 16 year old kids, with no Washington hunting license, (they are licensed in Idaho) and shooting Bob cats is a big no no. Luckily the officer was understanding, and understood that the boys had no other options.
They are now MUCH more careful about where they "wander"... Long story short, be careful, and keep an extra eye on your pets.

Yes please be careful, there are some here in WV that the DNR has released, and hunters say they aren't friendly especially hungry. Maybe call your DNR and have then trap it and move it to another area

I live on 5 acres in Western Washington State, down a private road way out of town..We have black bears, coyotes, raccoons, deer, all types of wild critters..They are afraid of humans and will avoid them at all costs..they will attack only when protecting their young or when they are cornered..I walk with my dog Bea, she lets me know if there is something out there, but after living here for 23 years I have never had any trouble..
