:loco: This may sound dumb but i have chronic bladder pain and vaginal pain. Is this a flare-up? What does remission feel like?

First of all LMAO to that title XD
Secondly, remission means going a long time without any symptoms of IC, such as no burning, no preasure, no frequency/urgency etc. It feel like you don't have IC and can last for years. I was in remission for 3 years (until last June) and it's wonderful!
Your pain may be IC or an infection, were you diagnosed with IC already?

Your title is too funny! It made me laugh out loud.
Christine gave you some pretty good information. I just think of a flare as a time when I am aware that I have a bladder! :) I'm always aware, but when I start really noticing it, then I know that things are going on like a flare.
People have different opinions about remission, but I will tell you that I was first diagnosed with IC when I was 14. THe uro wanted to start DMSO, which my parents didn't really want. I saw another uro, but by a year later (after struggling for a couple of years), I started feeling better, so I ignored it. For almost 10 years I lived relatively normal. I had an occassional infection, but mostly I was OK. I could even drink pop and some juices and stuff as long as I didn't overdo it. A couple of years ago, everything came back. I'm hoping for a long remission again! :)
I hope you feel better soon! :kissing:

Actually any one patients remission can be a week or longer. It would be wonderful to know exactly how to get there (remission) and make it last much longer. The longest remission I've had last for 4 months. It was great not having to buy those meds for that time period!! :)
I hope you get to enjoy one soon, whether it be a week(s) or month(s)!!

I am a chronic pain ICer...always have some degree of pain. That is just the way my IC works I suppose.
I had a remission before...and it was like heaven! Very minimal to no pain, frequency and urgency gone. Enjoy it while you can, and make the best of it!!!
Hugs,

I indeed have seen 'Immortal Beloved' with the lovely Gary Oldman :) I liked his performance but wasn't too found of the film. It's enjoyable but could have been better.
I love the Turkish Rondo! It's such a fun piece to listen too :)

Gary Oldman was so handsome in the movie,,,sigh...Beethoven wasn't that lucky..he was quite homely....Turkish Rondo is fun to listen to but hard to play! Hahahhaa..I am still on page 1.... :)

I don't understand this disease I once had a remission for over three years. Then when I started menopause it really came back. Since then I have been on elmiron. I would like to stop taking it though.
