Anyone with a stim of any kind have pain where their machine is? I am having a horrible time with my machine. My hips are killing because it hurts to sleep on my back so I lay on my sides!! This is hard too get used to - plus my machine sticks out.... anyone else experience this weird problem??? :hmm:

Sara,
My machine sticks out, too. It doesn't really cause me any pain, unless I am laying funny on my left side. I think I have arthritis around my stim, as I do get pain there when the weather changes and is bad, or worse, when it's cold.
I hope this helps somewhat.
Hugs,
Jess

I sometimes do....I can't lean against anything on that side. I have a hard time with rolling up off the floor if I'm exercising or watching TV on the floor.
At first, I wouldn't lay on it.....and now I can....but for only short periods of time. I'm still careful with that area but it has gotten much, much better.
Mine sticks out also....the 2 surgeons who put it in said mine healed with a *superficial* lump -- it was my choice to have a revision to make cosmetically look better. I did not -- it was working so well -- I'd rather have a little lumpines over maddening IC symptoms.

Mine is very tender, & almost a year old. I can almost wear jeans again (loose ones, with elastic in the waist, so they don't pull too much). I've found that I need to stretch out the muscle near the implant twice a day, or it hurts more & interferes with my daily activity. I don't like being able to see my lumps & scars through my swimsuit (I swim three times a week), so I don't look at my backside & no longer buy solid-colored suits. Busy floral prints are better.

I had my trial done on Friday 1-28, It is still very sore and I can't sleep. The past two nights I was awake most of the night, I could not get comfortable with it and continue to turn to each side. I started yesterday having this feeling in my legs, like they were aching. I was just wishing it was morning. I called the doctor's office and they didn't return my call. I called again this afternoon and the lady said they had been very busy and they would call back. They haven't and now I am getting a sore throat and feel pretty bad. The tingling is very weird to get used to. When I get up or sit down or lay down I can feel it, I have it turned only on 1. Hoping it is going to get better.

My perm was 1/18 2 weeks and still tender. The aching in your leg, I had but when I turned it down it relieved that feeling. You may need to have a different program for it, I had 4 different programs before I left the hospital until I found one that was comfortable. Good Luck, It will get easier to sleep on once you get used to it. Take care and rest.
Hi everyone! I am a little confused on the stims. I have the spinal cord stimulation it is the trial i am doing now. It is like a tens unit.this is I guess for the pain, and the other one is for freq. I have had it a week now, and so far it is working for me! :) I go back to the doctor Monday and have it removed. I hope it isn't has painful getting it out as it was having it put in. I was in a lot of pain, but this was in my back were they put in the leads. And with each passing day it has gotten better! :) Still sore and tender there.
So let me know the diff. between the two.
Thank you all!
Hope everyone has a pain free day! :grouphug:

Lady: What is the name of the device you are trying out? Is it InterStim?
If it is Interstim, its not meant for pain. Medtronic won't support any claims that it is for pain. Interstim is for urgency, frequency only. If you are getting pain releif then I think that's a great perk you're getting.
You asked "So let me know the diff. between the two.
Thank you all!" Did you want to know the difference between the TRIAL and the ACTUAL IMPLANTED UNIT? I just didn't want to type a long winded response, I just want to make sure I understood your question....or did you want to know the difference between different types of units? (ie: Synergy vs. Interstim vs. Bion vs. TENS?) :)
Hi this is called the spinal cord stimulation it isn't called the interstim, but i could be confused but the tape i have here on the stimulationg. My pain management dr. said it was for the pain. They didn't talk any thing about freq. just the pain control he wants to know about.
